Chapter 3

Dear Diary,

I wasn’t sure what I felt when I met her. Anne. She was so different from me, that all I could do was stare. So much like me, I was always quiet; mysterious.

Daisy

I walked across the street, heading towards my apartment when upon entry I ran right into a girl I’d never seen before now. I stared at her, unmoving. “Hi. I’m sorry I ran into you.” She said. I smiled shyly. “I’m Anne by the way.” She said holding out her hand for me to shake it. I hesitated.

“Daisy.” I answered in a slow almost mute voice. She smiled vibrantly.

“That’s a beautiful name. Maybe we should be friends, you know, hang out sometime.” Anne said happily. Was it just me or did I kind of want to punch her right now? Nah, it’s just me. Crazy old Daisy, with no friends and now this girl wants to be mine. That’s just odd. It wasn’t that I didn’t need someone to talk to, but right now, I knew that friends told each other everything. That’s not what I wanted. I could never share anything more than my name to anyone...but then again, when I suddenly found my eyes staring into her glassy blue orbs, I couldn’t move. I felt like I was frozen in time. Her complexion was horrifically beautiful that it just didn’t seem fair and her playful hair curling in ringlets embroidered her face gently. I stared. All I could do was stare. And that’s not the worst part.

I had smiled. I, Daisy Griffin had stared this girl down. What was wrong with me?
