━━━━━━━"Sit down." The woman demanded, narrowing her eyes at the boy. She tapped the desk in front of her, her long nails clicking softly against it, indicating to the chair placed in front of it.
He did as she said. Once he was seated, he decided to avoid the sharp stare of the woman, averting his eyes to the pack of files on her desk instead. It felt like he was being judged in court, to be completely honest.
He didn't even know why he was here, yet he had been trained for this for what felt like ages. None of the others dared to tell him, it must be important. Guessing with his luck, he must've messed up again. Badly.
Peter hugged his arms, rubbing his elbow slightly in a way of self-comfort. His frown deepened.
The woman slouched over the desk, her elbows supporting her arms, her head resting on her crossed hands. She stared at the young teenager, cocking her head to the side slightly. She attempted to catch his gaze.
"Lighten up. Aren't you excited, Spider?" She asked. "It's your first big mission!" The woman spat with excitement, obviously faking it by keeping a dull look on her face.
He stayed quiet, counting the seconds as he held his breath. During his time here, Peter had learned to simply stay quiet instead of taking the risk of saying something wrong.
As the famous saying went, 'Talking is Silver. Silence is Golden.'
"No?" She asked the excitement from earlier dripping away. She leaned back in her chair, crossing one leg over the other. "Fine." She heaved. The woman slid the big file over the desk under his nose.
She gave him a quick glare before standing up. "You're heading out tomorrow." She said. The two guards that had been standing on the sidelines followed her out of the room. He finally breathed out.
Once the door clicked closed, He dared to look up at the file. His position eased and he let go off his arms. He picked the file up, holding it up as he skimmed through it.
Of course, his name was 'Spider', even in the files. What did he expect? Peter raised his eyebrows, staring at the name with annoyance.
He shook his head lightly and snapped the file shut. Then he stood up and took the file with him, exiting the room.
Peter walked through the halls. He chose to simply ignore the small whispers and stares to and around him. He heard exactly what they said, with his enhanced-hearing and all. With that, he clutched the file tighter to himself and sped his pace up.
He reached the room shortly after. Well, not exactly reached. He stood before the door, checking the room number multiple times- just to be sure-, and staring with slightly furrowed brows at the door handle.
Peter took a breath and bit his lip, reaching for the handle and pushing it down.
If this organization taught him one thing, it was that he didn't have the luxury of worrying about things like these. Enhanced individuals like him don't get to have that.
He opened the door quietly and stepped in. He kept a wiped face, but when he eyed the people inside his eyebrows shut up.
There were multiple people seated around a large rectangular table, cyan-colored light emitted from beneath the table. There were tall chairs standing at the table, but far from each other.
