Shortly after the incident where Dario Brando helped saved Lord Joestar and his son, Dario had his own son, Dio Brando...

-1880-

"Dio," A bedridden Dario coughed as Dio turned his attention from his book to his father, "could you go grab me some food and beer?"
"Yes father." Dio nodded, softly shutting his book and tucking the page number away his mind, he anxiously asked, "Is the medicine working? Do you feel any better?"
Dario coughed once more. "No, Dio..." He looked down. "I'm sorry, son, but it looks like both your father and mother will be lost to the same illness."
Dio would have cried to know this, but he had to remain strong, for his father if nothing else. "I'll go and get your food, father." Dio said, putting his coat on and walking out the door.

"Be careful Jonathan!" Lord Joestar called from the balcony to his young son who was walking off to go meet with some friends.
"Of course father!" Jonathan called back.
On the way to meet his friends, Jonathan saw some boys making commotion and teasing a girl about his age.
"Oi, JoJo!" One of them called out. "Wanna peel back this little dolly's clothes with us." He held up a small yet expensive looking doll clothed with a little pink dress.
Jonathan smirked and sauntered up, taking the doll from his pal. "How about instead we just bust it open, eh Erina?" He suggested, looking to his friends and then the girl being teased. Jonathan and his friends grew to an uproar of laughter as the girl began to cry and ran away.
"Oh man," One of the boys remarked, "JoJo, how in the world are you so bold?" He sat on the grass.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk!" Jonathan waved his finger. "You know exactly why." He chuckled, tossing the doll over his shoulder.

Dio came back from the store with two loaves of bread for his father and himself. "Dio, my boy..." Dario coughed. "I'm not long for this world. Please open the drawer, Dio, there's a letter in there." Dio opened it and took out the letter. He read the back of it.

"312 Joestar Lane
Liverpool, England

From Lord George J. Joestar
To Mr.Dario Brando"

"Father, you never told me you knew a Lord!" Dio exclaimed as if he just found out his father knew God himself.
"Aye, my boy." Dario laughed hoarsely at his son's surprise. "When I'm gone, go and take that letter to the Joestars. I saved his life a short while before you were born. I'm sure they'll welcome you with open arms. Treat their mansion as your home and the Joestars as your family." He instructed Dio. "I'm sure they'll treat you well."

At the Joestar mansion, Jonathan and his father were seated at dinner. Jonathan ate like he was raised by wolves, gobbling down his steak and wine. "JoJo, will you try to eat a bit slower?" His father chuckled.
"Sorry father, I can't help it." JoJo shrugged, continuing as before. Facing no repercussion, as always.

A few weeks later, Dio stood in a large london cemetery, gazing down at his father's grave. "You were a great man father. You cared for me and taught me to respect others despite our impoverished living, which was only made worse once you had done your best to save mother... Even if in the end the medicine left us destitute. Your love for her and for me were just that strong." Tears began to roll down his cheeks like small rivers as he held the letter his father had given him. "I'll do my best to honor you, father!' Dio cried, looking to the sky.

Erina, who fell victim to the vicious mockery of Jonathan and his friends,  cautiously returned to the site of their bullying. She searched the ground and soon found the doll her passed mother had given her. Picking it up, she held it close and wished there would be someone to stand up to the richest boy in town and his delinquent friends.

This is the tale of two young men, their destinies bound to intersect, and the stone mask that changes their fate forever.
