Rose lifted her look, meeting his dark eyes combined with the blood from them, that devilish eyes which were making him a God. Her God. She wasn’t afraid of him being a Strigoi and she will never be. Dimitri was the man she loved and never be afraid of even if he was something dangerous, a creature of the night. A creature which could hurt her and kill her. No. He is Dimitri. The only problem I have at this moment. The only man I love, the only man I could ever hate. In some ways she knew that he wouldn’t hurt her, neither in this life nor in another.
“I am not afraid. Your red eyes don’t scare me. They make me love you more. Your body is colder than death itself, colder than ice; you think it disturbs me, but it doesn’t. It makes me want you more. Tell me that you don’t feel the same.”
Dimitri shook his head and stepped back.
“I don’t want you to be next to me. I just don’t want you become what I am. Because you don’t know what is to be haunted. You don’t know how is to kill to feed.”
Rose shook her head without saying anything and Dimitri continued speaking on his cold voice.
“But have you ever asked yourself what I feel for you? What made me become what I am now? Have you ever thought that I wanted to be like this? That I wanted to keep you away from me?”
Rose didn’t look him in the eyes. She was afraid that in more than one moment she could kiss him and regretting it after. She put her look down and didn’t say anything. I know what happened, but you don’t want to tell me. And I am wondering why you don’t tell me. Why don’t you trust me? – she thought without looking at his body, at his hands, at that face which was making her bones shaking more than ever.
“You once told me that you loved me. I don’t think and I don’t want to think that your feelings changed just because you are another kind of...-“
“Yes they changed. This is what you don’t want to understand. That everything changed. Everything you know from me, that Dimitri you know is not what you see now. It’s just a memory”.
Rose looked at him and made a step forth.
“No! Never say that again. You are still there, somewhere. Somewhere you have to look in. You can be saved, Dimitri! You can be what you were. If not, you have two choices: either you turn me in a Strigoi, or I will kill you.”
Dimitri started laughing in a devilish and mean way.
“Please, my love - he said on an ironic voice – you can barely kill a normal Strigoi. You can’t kill me. I was your teacher. The best from the whole Academy. You can barely reach me with a stake. You can’t kill me.”
He continued laughing and she tried to reach his heart, but by one move, he stopped her and put his mouth on her neck.
“See, Roza? You can’t reach my heart. Not to kill me.”
At the hearing of her name, the name which was said only by him, she remained wordless. She didn’t say anything because she couldn’t. Because it was too much. Dimitri, as a Strigoi, was telling her in the way he was telling her when they were having their moments, their privacy moments. Why do you call me like this if you don’t feel anything for me? What do you want?
She felt his cold lips on her neck. She could feel his teeth on her neck, ready to bite, to taste her blood, to kill her. That’s what a Strigoi would do. But not him. He is different. Those cold lips of him felt so warm and reminded her of the Dimitri she used to love. Those lips which were giving her that great feeling in her chest and on her back.
“Do it. Bite me. Kill me. Turn me in what you are. Feed yourself. I can feel in your breath how much you want it. I can feel your thirst of blood. Of my blood. So do it. This is what we both want. We can be together. We can kill people together. We can live forever, hiding ourselves somewhere we won’t be found by anyone.”
