Chapter 1

Lucy’s POV

It was my first day of university, and I was so nervous, I didn’t know many people that were going, because all of my friends and classmates were at different universities, so I was just going to have to make new friends.

I didn’t have any idea what to wear, I wanted something formal, yet cute and fashionable, I wanted to make an impression on my teachers, but an impression on my classmates to, so I picked out a floral blouse, with a pair of plain black leggings, once I got changed and stuff, I was all ready to go.

I lived about an hour away from the university, so I had to get a 7am bus from my house, all the way there, but once I had made some new friends, I was going to get a flat with them, my mum and dad had promised to pay my first 6 months rent, and half of my share of the deposit.

I went to the door and took my key, as I opened the door, I shouted to my mum and dad, “Bye, see you tonight…” Just as I said that, I saw my mum coming through, followed by my dad,

“Good look honey.” My mum said and my dad nodded, giving me a hug, I checked my watch and realised I only had a minute before my bus was due,

“I gotta go, I’m going to miss my bus!” I said pushing past them, and then I ran through the rain until I got to the bus shelter, and within about 2 minutes, my bus arrived, I jumped on and found a seat.

1 hour later

I walked into my classroom… I was late,

“I hate to say this, but this is a very bad start to your first lesson with me…well your first ever lesson in university…” The teacher said,

“I’m so sorry, my bus came in about 10 minutes later than it should have.” I replied, taking a seat, in the second row from the back.

After the lesson

“And with that, you’re all dismissed, have a good day.” The teacher said walking out of the room

“Hi, I’m Nathan.” Said a cute boy that had been sitting next to me,

“Lucy.” I said, shaking his hand gently, “How old are you? I’m 19.”

“Me too, it’s my first year though, I took a gap year.” He replied

“Cool, where you living? I’m still unfortunately living with my parents, about an hour away!” I said

“I’m living in my cousin’s house, at the moment, ‘coz she lives round here, it’s her, Anisha,” He said pointing at a girl that was sitting talking to a 2 other girls, “And my best friend from home, that obviously came here too, and my sister are living with Anisha too! That’s Emily and Carly!” He said pointing at the 2 girls that were with Anisha, “That’s pretty rubbish that you have to travel an hour every morning, we just have to walk for about 5 minutes! We walk with Ellie too… unfortunately, she lives down the road from my cousin’s, again unfortunately…she’s my ex, we started going out when we were about 14 and it went on for about 3 years, she moved to Newcastle, when we were about 16, and for about 6 months she was cheating on me with some lad that went to her school, so we broke up, we never talked much for the last year anyway, what with us being in different places, and her needing time for her new lad, when I found out she broke up with her other boyfriend and told me that I was the only one for her, I told her that I couldn’t trust her any more, and I didn’t love her and we broke up, and ever since, she’s been ringing me, texting me, facebooking me, tweeting me and so much more, asking me out again, she’s still doing it, it’s doing my head in!”

“Sounds awful, my ex-boyfriend cheated on me with my sister, then when I found out, he had the nerve to break up with me, and say that he couldn’t trust me…. I have no idea why, but now they’re engaged, I don’t speak to either of them anymore, I haven’t spoken to my sister for 2 years now, I can’t believe she could have done such a thing, we had been going out for 2 years and my sister decided to have a fling with him, which resulted in me walking in on them, a year later, snogging, in my room, I thought it had maybe been for a couple of weeks, not that they could do it for a year without telling me!” I said, smiling awkwardly towards Nathan

“That’s even worse…your own sister! Anyway I better go, I’ve got maths now, hold on, I’ve just got to write some notes about what I need to study, have you got some sticky notes?” He asked, I nodded and handed him a few, he wrote a few things down, then said “Well see you round, yeah?” I nodded and he patted my back, which made me nearly jump out of my skin, as I wasn’t really expecting it!

When he left, a girl came over to me,

“Hi, I’m Ellie, I saw you talking to Nathan…He’s MINE, keep your hands off sister!”

“I..I..I was only talking to him, he told me that you’s broke up more than two years ago, because you cheated on him!” I said walking away,

“Ummm…..Lucy, you got something on your back” She said, “I only know your name ‘coz it’s on the thing on your back, here you go” She said giving it to me and then walked away,

I took it from her and read it,

Hi Lucy, it was really nice meeting you, and I’d love to meet up with you outside of university, here’s my number

I smiled to myself, and took my phone out and saved the number.
