Chapter 2

I had no more lessons in the day, and I had no one to spend the day with, in town or something, because Nathan was in maths, and I didn’t know if he had any other lessons on that day, he was the only person I had really met, so I didn’t have anyone else to hang about with, so I went into town and done a bit of shopping. After about an hour had passed, I took out my phone and rang Nathan,

“Hello…” He said

“Hi, it’s Lucy, we met after 1st lesson…performing arts?” I said, hoping he remembered me

“Hi Lucy, you’ve had me waiting a while, and I know who ‘Lucy’ is you know!” He said “I was wondering if you’re free this evening?”

“Yeah… yeah I am!” I said, getting butterflies in my stomach, “I have no more lessons today, so I’m actually free all day!”

“Great, me too, how about I meet you in town in about 15 minutes, and we’ll just go for some lunch and a bit of a look around, to find a beautiful dress to go with a beautiful girl, that you can wear to the party I’m taking you to tonight? That’s if you’ll be my date?” He said

“That sounds great… Of course I’ll be your date! But what party?” I asked, wondering

“It’s this party that a club in town runs for all of the people that have just started their first year in our university, it happens every year on the first day, there’s other clubs that do parties for everyone else in the university, and of course there’s the big party at the end of the year, that is for everyone in our uni, nobody misses it…well that’s what my sister said, it’s her second year now!”

“Sounds fun! I can’t wait! So I’ll see you outside of HMV in 15-20 minutes? Yeah?” I asked, just to make sure,

“Yeah, I’ll see you there! Bye!!!” He said, hanging up

I walked towards Primark which was a few shops down from HMV, I was really early and didn’t want to make it look like I had been waiting for ages, so I thought that I would just wait until I saw him, and then walk over.

10 minutes later

“I thought we said HMV, not primark…” Nathan said, putting his hands on my shoulders,

“You gave me a fright! Oh and, I was a little early, what with me being just down the road, so I thought I’d look in Primark’s window!” I said, awkwardly

“You wanna go for some lunch?” He said, and I nodded, eagerly, as I was starving! “Where do you wanna go, do you know anywhere nice? Coz I certainly don’t know this place at all…”

“How about we just find Pizza Hut, at least we know what the food’ll be like!” I said, smiling, he nodded, as we walked down the street. We stopped when we saw a big map of the town centre at the end of the street and headed for it, just to get our bearings, after that it didn’t take us long to get around.

We got to pizza hut and there was a small queue, we waited for about 5 minutes, and we got to the front,

“Table for two please…” Nathan said, putting his arm around me,

“You’s are a right cute couple…” Said the waitress

“We’re not…” I interrupted her,

“Thanks!” Nathan said, and I looked at him, confused, I didn’t know it would have been this easy to get a gorgeous guy like him, within a day, and I didn’t even have to ask!

The waitress took us to our table, and I went to put the chair out, before Nathan took hold of it and pulled it back.

“Oh…thankyou, but I could’ve done that myself!” I said, and then realised he was just being nice.

“Yeah, but I lovely girl like you doesn’t need to go about pulling chairs in and out…. Right that sounded stupid, but I’m bad with words, just don’t laugh at me!” He said, embarrassedly.

“I won’t laugh…” I said with a grin on my face, as I sat down

“Oi you, I can tell you’re holding back your laughter….you’re a right nasty pasty!” He said trying to keep a straight face, and I burst out laughing.

“Sorry, I had to laugh at that!” I said, gesturing at his seat, for him to sit down.

He took his seat and we both looked at the menu, we decided what we were having, and Nathan ordered.

I had a small peperoni pizza and he had a regular ham and mushroom pizza and we both had diet coke, then Nathan asked for the bill.

“That’s £17.80, are you wanting to pay separately?”

“Yes.” I said at the same as time as Nathan saying,

“No, I’m paying.” He handed his card over to the waitress and he looked at me, I was shaking my head, and giving him ‘the look’ “Lucy, it’s fine, it’ll be my treat!” he said to me, and I nodded, but I was still not happy. He put his pin in and got the receipt and we both left.

As we were walking down the road, Nathan took my hand in his, and looked at me and smiled, I had only known him a day, but I felt so relaxed with him…until I saw Ellie run down the street,

“Nathan, baby, I’ve been texting you all day……WHAT ARE YOU DOING HOLDING HER HAND?!?!” As she said that, I let go of Nathan’s hand

“It’s OK, Lucy, don’t let her bother you” Nathan said as he put his arm around me, and smiled at me, like Ellie wasn’t even there, but then his attention was drawn back to her whining

“You know we’re meant for each other, honey, you just need to admit it, we’ve always been right for each other and always will do!” She said, taking hold of his hand, he yanked his hand away.

Nathan’s POV

“You make me feel sick Ellie! A few years ago, you didn’t think that, when you went behind my back and cheated on me! I’m quite glad you did, or I’d be stuck with you, wouldn’t I? So thanks! Now if you just leave me alone for a bit, so I can spend some time with my girlfriend, Lucy!” I said, smiling at Lucy.

I couldn’t believe that I said that, she wasn’t my ‘girlfriend’, but I really did hope she would have been in the near future, she was so pretty and had an amazing personality.

“Your girlfriend!!!!!!!! I SHOULD BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND AGAIN, YOU KNOW I SHOULD!” She said angrily!

“Really, I didn’t know I knew that! Oh well you can think that, but I don’t agree with you, so just get lost! And leave me alone for good!” I said, as I took my arm off Lucy’s shoulder and took her hand in mine, we turned around and went to walk away, when Lucy stopped. I turned around and saw Ellie grabbing hold of her.

“You really think you can steal my lad? Huh? I don’t think so! I REALLY DON’T THINK SO!” She shouted and went to slap Lucy. I grabbed hold of Ellie’s hand and pushed her away.

“STAY AWAY FROM HER, ELLIE! Slapping my girlfriend isn’t going to get you anywhere, now is it?” I said angrily and Lucy and I walked away.

Me and Lucy continued to walk down the street hand in hand, until we were out of Ellie’s sight. During that time, there was an awkward silence between us, and I really didn’t know what to say, was she angry with me for saying she was my girlfriend, was she confused, was she upset that I’d say that, and maybe not mean it. I didn’t even know if she saw me as a friend or something more, I knew I wanted us to be something more, but if she shared that hope, I did not know at all.

“About me saying you’re my girlfriend…” I said before Lucy interrupted me.

“I know, I know, it was just pretend…” She said smiling, awkwardly

“Um…yeah…actually, no! I would love it so much if you would be my girlfriend! I think you’re so pretty, and have the best personality you could ever get…” I said, looking at her smiling,

“Of course, I’d love to be!” She said and she took me in her arms and hugged me really tight
