May POV:
I was in my two-bedroom apartment reading my copy of Le fantome de l'opera (The Phantom of The Opera) by Gaston Leroux before school started. I was getting to the good part when I heard a knock on my door. I groaned loudly and got up to go open it.
"Serena I swear if that's you, I'm going to drown you." I said loudly before opening it.
"I got Jamba Juice." She said showing the drink and the oatmeal.
"You've been spared. Thank you." I said grabbing my order and letting her in. She walked in.
"So are you excited for today?" She asked sitting on my small couch.
"A little I guess. It's high school and a superpower one at that so some type of drama is bound to happen." I said sitting at the counter.
"Hey, you never know. It can be smooth sailing." She said.
"There's a 70/30 chance of that happening. Those chances are on the 30 side." I said eating my oatmeal. She rolled her eyes and checked the time.
"We should get going. The bus should be here soon." Serena said getting up and grabbing her bag. I looked at the clock and nodded.
I threw away the oatmeal cup and went to my room to grab my bag with my book and walked out of my apartment with Serena.
We walked up to the bus stop in a neighborhood. Serena started a conversation about musicals. A pair of brunettes, a boy and girl, walked up to the stop as well.
"Hi I'm Will. This Layla." The boy said sticking his hand out. I shook his hand. "May. This is my friend Serena." I said introducing ourselves. At the corner of my eye, I saw the bus.
"Oh the bus is here." I said nodding my head towards it. We watched as the bus stopped in front of us and Serena stepped on first. I stepped up after her.
"May Sanzo?" The bus driver asked. I looked up and saw a familiar face. "Ron? Hey." I said greeting him. "Nice to see a familiar face." He said holding his fist. I fist bumped his. "Same same." I said walking towards the back of the bus where Serena sat.
We couldn't hear anything that's happening up front until Ron yelled "Will Stronghold!?"
My head snapped towards the front, so did Serena's. "Oh you have got to be kidding me...." I heard Serena mutter.
"Yeah the chances of a smooth school year just went down to 0% now." I said as Ron made two students get up and go to a different seat.
Timeskip to the school.
Ron landed the bus a little hard but still managed without any injuries so that's a win. Serena and I got off the bus after the brunette girl that was with Stronghold. Stronghold go off the bus after us and joined the group of freshman as Me and Serena stayed back watching Speed and Lash mess with the group. I shook my head while Lash tried to lie about the "$15 dollar new student fee."
"Hey I'm going to head inside you coming?" I asked Serena.
"No. I'm going to stay out here a bit longer. This is entertaining." She said giggling. I nodded and walked into the hall. I was walking down one corridor to my locker as I felt everyone's eyes on me. I walked into the gym and watched as Principal Powers and Coach Boomer prepare everything.
"Kym! Just the girl we're looking for." Principal Powers said spotting me. "Hello Principal Powers. Coach Boomer." I greeted them. "So Kym. As you know the whole drill about Power Placement with the freshman." Coach Boomer started and I nodded my head. "We need someone to go first so that the freshman now how to do things. And to show off how talented students here are." Principal Powers finished.
"So you want me to be that student?" I said making sure I have it right. "Yes." They both said. "Ok." I agreed. "Perfect. I'll be back in time for the freshmen to be here." Principal Powers said before transforming into a star and flying off. "Ok, Kym we're going to be on this platform that raises up after The Principals speech. Which should be soon so let's get going." He said.
Will POV:
After Gwen left us in the Gym we all went silent for a little bit before a ball of light came shooting into the room and transformed into a woman. "Hello Children, I am Principal Powers." She said giving us the rundown of How Sky High is and how it runs. After she transformed back into a star and left. All of our gazes followed after her exit when we heard mechanical noises. We looked and saw a man with glasses, a clipboard, and a whistle. And next to him was May? "Welcome to Power Placement Freshman." He said making me dread this whole thing already. Layla looked hopeful. Zach looked ready to do anything. Magenta looked over everything. "Welcome to Sky High." May said looking over all of us.
Little did any of them know, a figure in the corner of the room was watching all of them especially the Woman on the Platform.
