It was probably a dream.

A dream that she would most likely wake up to.

"Wait, so you're saying you're invited?"

She nodded in response as she scooped a mouthful of cheesecake in her mouth.

Keira leaned onto the back of her seat, eyes disbelieving while she slowly shakes her head from to side to side.

"This must be a dream. You must be asleep."

She gulped deeply, "Like I said."

Pamela huffed loudly, startling the other two occupants of the table.

"It's not a big deal. You got invited to a party, so what? I also got one." Then she pulled out the same yellow paper wrapped up in soft silk tied in a ribbon.

Keira gasped, "Why didn't I get one?"

Olivia rubbed her arm comfortingly a small smile creeping in her lips, "I didn't say I was going to attend. Besides, we have movie night at Friday."

The blonde bowed her head, ignoring Olivia's words, "What did you guys do to get that? You know only Loray's inner circle gets invited."

The question also popped in her head. Genevieve Loray was the richest student in school, having a CEO as a father and a famous surgeon as a mother.

She wasn't a snob when it comes to her personality, but she can be a bit bossy and acts like a know-it-all.

Gin-her preferred nickname-has some friends that may or may not use her because of her wealth. People usually flock around her to get noticed and hopefully get some cash.

Olivia didn't mind her, it was a futile effort to get money out of her. Now though, it was extremely unusual for Gin to invite random guests in a party or ball, whatever rich people call that.

"It's strange you know."

Pamela hummed swirling the spoon in her coffee while Keira stared blankly out the window.

"Maybe you should go." Keira blurted out.

Olivia snapped up, "What about you? We don't want you to be left out."

She shook her head, "Nah, it's fine. We can do movie night after, I can you dress you up."

Pamela was about to open her mouth when Keira quickly added, "And, aren't we curious to know why she invited you?"

"I don't know, to humiliate us? You know what we did to her." Pamela rolled her eyes.

Olivia ducked her head and let a blush bloom on her cheeks. Yes, she did remember that.

"We were awful." She murmured in her crossed arms.

The incident was last year, the three were doing their normal routine. Attending classes, eating together at lunch then going to a coffee shop to do assignments.

Then Keira got her notes snatched by a bunch of boys and will only give it back if they pay them 100 bucks. But, if they can't afford the price, they have steal it from Genevieve only. Why her was still a mystery.

They were caught with one brunette and told Loray. Then the girl sprouted out lies about how they were tired of manipulating her to stealing cash directly. Olivia didn't have time to properly explain before the girl ran off with her bag, tears dripping off her eyes.

"It was that brunette's fault." Pamela hissed, a sneer on her face.

"Rebecca." Keira corrected.

The name sounded familiar, "You mean Rebecca Taylor?"

"There were some rumors about her getting pregnant this year." Pamela commented.

"We're not gossipers, Pam. Getting back on topic," she turned to Keira, "are you sure you're okay with us attending?"

She waved a dismissal hand, "It's fine, if anything goes wrong, I'll be there to save the day. And to get some perfect blackmail." She smiled slyly.

"Typical."

Olivia opened her phone to see it was past six and excused herself to her friends and walked to the nearest bus stop and waited for the vehicle to appear.

She texted her dad that she was coming home and pocketed her phone. She noticed she wasn't alone in the waiting shed and saw the very person she didn't want to meet at this hour.

Olivia ignored the person and idly looked around the noisy street and the flashing lights of the city while hiding her awkwardness at sharing her silence with a person she knew.

"Hey." He suddenly said.

"Hey." She responded with fake nonchalance.

"You're Olivia, right? Olivia Partain?"

She barely answered back when he said, "Sorry, that sounded creepy. I'm Nathan Westburg. I'm in your English class?"

"Oh, yeah, yeah. We were partners?"

He hummed as silence lapsed once again. Olivia didn't know he remembered her, aside from the small fluttering of her heart, she was surprised to know he remembered her. Students usually ignore others and go on their way unless you're rich or sexy-looking.

Olivia shifted her legs and saw a bus stop at their shed. She turned at him, "You coming?"

"Nah, I have my sister to get me."

She nodded and went in before she heard him again.

"Are you going to Gin's party?"

Knowing the bus driver was getting impatient, Oliva said, "Yes." and entered the bus.

She looked out her window to see him gazing at her and waved his hand. Olivia gave her own and averted her face away.

Maybe attending the party wasn't so bad after all.

"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight and a half years ago. Dare not say that a man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant."
