Eddie had been woken up. It was 2:50 AM and someone was calling. Who would be calling this time In the night? He thought a bit angrily. eddie needs his beauty sleep in order to function during the days.

"Hello?" Eddie said in a tired voice.

"Oh, sorry, did I wake you up?" a soft and familiar voice speaks back.

"Richie why are you calling so early in the morning?!" eddie was surprised by the fact his best friend was calling so late, but also not surprised because well, its richie.

"I'm sorry, I'll let you sleep" richie apologized

"No richie, you have me up now, what is it?"

richie slightly stutteres over his words "I-I was wondering if I could come over?"

eddie slightly huffs, not realizing "it's really early richie i dont know.."

"You're right, I'll just wait tell morning, goodnight edde" Richie almost hangs up - mentally slapping himself for even calling so late - before eddie stops him.

"No!." eddie slightly yells "i mean... dont go, you can come over richie, just be quiet." eddie says in a slighty agitated tone, but a bit quieter then before.

theres s small pause before richie responds "...you're sure?"

"mhm" eddie says a little less convincing.

"like 100% because i really dont want to seem like a bothe-"

eddie cuts richie off before he can ramble "yes rich, you can come over, im up now anyways and id like some company since i wont be able to fall back asleep anyways"

everything eddie says he means in a genuine way, its just comes off as rude or insulting sometimes because he has no filter, which is why richie feels like a bother.

theres another moment of silence before richie answers "...k ... ill be there in 30"

"See you then... oh rich..! before you go, my mom took the ladder so youll have to find another way up"

"im sure ill find some way" richie says confident that if he cant find a way, he'll climb up the side of his house anyways.

Beep beep beep.

Richie hung up.

it took him less the 10 minutes to get there, richie stands at the bottom of eddies window trying to figure out how to get in due to eddies mom taking away his usual route through his window, the ladder.

he looks up at the tree that perfectly leads to his window, it would only be a small jump from the tree to the window, the tree was so tall it reached past the window above his roof.

richie starts to climb trying not to make too much noise, not wanting to wake sonia from her slumber, but its hard to wake her up once shes asleep, almost like how eddie cant fall asleep after hes been woken.

once he gets to the branch that leads to the smaller boys window, he breaks off a piece of stick and throws it at his window just enough to catch eddies attention without startling him.

eddie quietly runs to his window and moves back to give room for richie to jump in.

richie positions himself and takes in a breath of the slightly cold summer night air - even though its a small jump, its around an 8 foot drop, though that might not seem too high, the boy on the branch is quite scrawny and would prefer to keeps his ass and hands in shape-
