Meetings At The Oak

And so every two days Avis ditched David and Amy to go see Raven. He never missed a day.

Sometimes they would just spend the entire afternoon under the oak talking or reading in companionable silence.

Other days they'd venture into town and he'd help her with her errands and such. If not doing those few things they'd spend the day at her cottage doing whatever they happened to think of.

After about six months of this he decided to invite her to his castle. At the time he decided to ask they were under the great oak. Her head resting on his lap as she read a book. His hand running lazily through her long hair.

Avis
"Raven my dear..."

Raven
"Yes Avis?"

Avis
"Would you like to visit my home?"

Raven
"I have been wondering just where it WAS that you lived. I was beginning to think maybe you were all in my head."

He chuckled at this.

Avis
"Well then tomorrow I shall bring you to my home... Just promise me you wont freak out when you see where or more what it is..."

Raven
"Why would I do that?"

Avis
"You will see dear....you'll see..."

He was beginning to regret never telling her he was the youngest prince of this country....

The next day he arrived in a carriage and surprised her.

Raven
"Do you really live that far off from town?"

Avis
"For you I do...Thats why I brought this today!"

She got in and they started moving. She began asking him questions that shocked him.

Raven
"Avis... I've been meaning to ask thus but never had the right chance. Are you a dragon?"

Avis
"Why. Would you ask that?"

Raven
"Well for one your inhumanly beautiful, two theres also the fact that you sometimes talk even older then some of the town elders do."

Avis
"If I said I was would you be scared of me? Would you no longer be my friend?"

Raven
"Heavens no! I just was wondering why you never told me. Were you scared i would be and that I'd leave you?"

Avis
"To be quite honest? Yes, thats why I never told you WHAT I was nor who I am to my kind."

Raven
"That is what?"

Avis said just as they pulled up to his home.
"I am a Avid Eonus the youngest half human half dragon prince of Eon."

Raven was silent for a long moment. He was beginning to become uneasy at her blank face wondering if he broke her when she spoke.

Raven
"Thats all?"

Avid
"That is all."

Raven
"Avis. You are stupid."

She looked him in the eye much to his surprise.

Raven
"You have known me for half a year yes?"

Avis nodded.

Raven
"Have I seemed in all the time you have known me to care about these type of things?"

Avis
"No. I just didn't want to scare you off!"

Raven
"Do I seem the type to run for such a petty thing as you being a dragon let alone a prince?"

Avis
"No...."

She shook her head

Raven
"Honestly Avis! Well anyways am I to meet my best friends family? You did say when we met that they were on a trip. Are they back yet?"

Avis
"No they aren't but my two closest friends besides you are here and I wanted you to meet them."

Raven
"Well, lets go then shall we?"

He helped her out and led her inside. In his head he could 't believe how smoothly she was taking all of this. He also realized he was foolish to wait this long to tell her. She. Did. Not. Care.

To her he was Avis her best friend the rest didn't matter!

It was the same when she met Amy and David. The three got along famously and became good friends as well.

The for of them Avis, Raven, Amy, and David all became an amusing group of friends. They got together very often at the castle or at Ravens cottage.

They'd play games, go to shows, have sleepovers whatever they pleased. And for the next year they all lived quite happily.
