I sat in my bedroom, I still had the occasional tear roll down my face, but Wyatt always stopped it before it reached my chin. He was sitting crisscross applesauce opposite me, holding my face in his hands. Every once in a while, he would kiss a tear away and I would chuckle.
Sophia came in with a knock and sat down on the bed. She sweetly grabbed my hand. "None of us agree with what Finn said. I don't even think Finn does." She let that statement sink in and I rested my head against her shoulder. "You know, he told me he liked you last week."
"Now I feel bad. But I've loved Wyatt for months now." I lifted my head back up and Sophia smiled.
"I think you two are super cute, I just think that was the reason for Finn's outburst."
Sophia patted my leg before leaving the room, "Do you want to get some ice cream. We can do it together." Wyatt suggested, and I nodded solemnly. He helped lift me onto his back and he carried me out into the kitchen. Finn was sitting at the dining table, his head in his arms.
I turned around and gave Wyatt a quick kiss before sitting down next to Finn. Wyatt understood and left the room, leaving Finn and I to talk things out.
I placed my hand on Finn's back, gently rubbing in circles. "Are you okay?" He looked up and his face was stained with tears.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" He rubbed at his eyes and I pulled him into a hug.
"I'll be alright. I just... Can I ask why... you said those things?" I loosened my hug and Finn pulled away, still holding my hands.
"I was jealous... of what you and Wyatt had. He knew that I liked you and he-" I squeezed his hands gently. "He was just always your best friend and I thought if I was able to change his mind about you, you'd like me instead. It's selfish I know, but I was desperate." He hung his head in shame. "When you called me out, I got angry. I saw his hand on your leg at breakfast this morning and how cuddly you were making breakfast and I snapped. I knew what you were insecure about and I betrayed your trust."
"Oh no... you didn't betray anyone. It's okay." I lifted his head and wiped away a tear. "You were angry and what we say in anger doesn't reflect what we really feel. It's just little mean thoughts blown out of proportion."
"I'm sorry."
"And I'm sorry if I ever made you feel left out."
I hugged him tightly. Finn was one of my closest friends, I wasn't ever going to let something get between us. As he pulled away, however, he leaned in and kissed me. I sat back in my chair quickly just as a knock sounded from the doorway.
It was Wyatt and he was not happy.
"That was uncalled for, Finn. Excuse me." Wyatt was already stomping back to our bedroom and I ran after him.
-
I closed the door behind me and locked it. "Wyatt-" I started.
"No. What was that? I thought you were just clearing the air!" Wyatt sat on the bed angrily.
"I was! I comforted Finn and forgave him. I didn't think I was leading him on or anything!" A small silence fell between us. The tension could be cut with a knife. "I didn't kiss him, Wy. I didn't want to, it just happened, and I pulled away as quickly as I could. Just don't take it out on Finn. He already hates himself enough."
I sat on the bed next to Wyatt and placed my hand on his still-frowning face. "I hate it when you're right." He huffed and I smiled.
"C'mere big boy." I pulled him close and tickled his sides. He retaliated with tickles of his own and I rolled on top of him, pinning his arms down. I leaned down and kissed his cheek, then the edge of his mouth, slowly getting closer and closer to his lips. I suddenly stopped and Wyatt whined. I chuckled and slowly leaned down, licking Wyatt's cheek. He recoiled as fast as he could, shouting about how gross I was.
I sat back and laughed as he ran around the room trying to find something to wipe his cheek off. He finally found a wet wipe and scowled at me. "You tricked me. That's not fair." He discarded the wet wipe and launched himself onto the bed, rolling onto me and placing wet kisses all across my face as I squealed.
I finally caught his face in my hands, his body lying on mine, my legs wrapped around his torso and placed my lips on his. Wyatt placed one hand at the back of my neck and the other at my waist as he deepened the kiss. It was slow and sweet and loving.
I let my legs fall onto the bed, on either side of Wyatt and he moved the hand that was rubbing my waist down to my leg and rubbed lightly with his thumb. I slowly let go of the kiss and closed my eyes, leaning my head back on the bed. Wyatt continued to kiss my cheek and my neck, stopping to suck on one spot. This got my attention. I sat up and gently pulled his face away from my neck.
"Wyatt, babe, you're doing great, just no hickeys. There are six other people here and I don't want to deal with covering it up every day." I ran my hand through his curls, and he nodded before placing a kiss on my lips and tackling me back onto the bed. He rolled us over, so he was beside me on the bed and sat up.
"I'm gonna go gather the others. We can play games." He raised his eyebrows, emphasizing the word "games" and exited the room, leaving me a blushing mess on our bed.
