For him, he had a fresh breath, seemed as if after a life he was happy. As if he had not been able to live since all these months; every day was like a decade and now that she was right there, infront of him, smiling while she met all the others, ready to go home with him, he was happy; finally really happy and content. He took a deep satisfactory breath that now she was there with him and he was not letting any trouble come to her. He would stand as a sheild infront of her and protect her.
No pain from now and not even a drop of tear; he smiled
They had arrived home and everyone was there inside waiting for them. He stopped the car and got out to help her. Omkara opened the gate as Gauri stepped out and suddenly he pulled her in his arms, getting a shriek from her "what are you doing?" she asked in a soft whisper. "Taking my bride home" he smiled. "Omkaraji, chodiye, everyone is here" she blushed. "So? Look this is how I want to bring my bride home, coz this is how it's done. Now I am no one to change the rules am I?" he reasoned.
Others cheered as the elders smiled while Omkara stepped inside the mansion with Gauri in his arms. Gauri on the other hand was whole crimson as she just wanted to somehow jump and rush into her room, but he won't let her out.
Janhvi welcomed her daughter in law with an arti while Pinky took balaaiyaan. Knowing how Omkara had suffered past all these days, they were truly happy for them and wished that they would remain as happy always.
"Ab toh utariye" Gauri asked. "Areey kyun? Meri maan Gauri, let these Oberoi men do whatever they please to, if it is good. Waise bhi they don't do much good anyway" Annika eyed Shivaay while saying the last line. "Excuse me? Is that pointed to me?" Shivaay raised a bow. "Nahi, woh padosi leke aaya tha naa mujhe ghar mein aise, and then had dropped me after he saw mummyji and walked off?" Annika said in a sarcasm. "Woh ... " Omkara interupted "guys, I should take her to the room, Gauri needs rest". "Oh haan haan sure sure" Shivaay said as Omkara smiled and departed and so did all the others where Shivaay dragged Annika, changing the topic.
"So" Omkara said as he placed Gauri on bed. "So?" she asked. "No, I wanted to ask how are you feeling? Everything alright?" Gauri nodded with a frown. "Oh okay, so ... I have appointed two bodyguards; don't worry they are Khanna's trusted, for everywhere you go alright? They would take care of everything you need so that you don't have to travel much and if you do, both of them will be with ..." Gauri cuts him "bodyguards? But I don't need bodyguards". "Offcourse you don't, not right now, since you are still weak to go anywhere" Omkara started "but after you get alright, they will be going with you okay. Though jot taking any chances I have appointed them right now. Don't worry you won't notice them"
"Par I don't need ..." Omkara cuts her "please Gauri, no arguments on this alright. You want you can fight with me for anything for the rest of our lives but I just want you to not fight on this please" she sighed but nodded.
Now this will be hectic, hey Shankerji !
For the month after this, Omkara had dedicated all his time to Gauri. She wasn't even allowed to keep her foot down unless necessary. Gauri had a hard time getting used to this. She had always been someone who had done everything on her own and now sitting idol, sucked. So she would just warm up, roam around till Omkara wasn't in view and she didn't liked it at all.
Apart from that were those two hulk like creatures who won't leave her side for even a while. She wanted to be alone for a while, but the only place she was alone was her washroom and she hated it. So she decided that she would take an action, it should not go like this, she huffed.
"But it is for your safety" Omkara reasoned. "Who will harm me? They are on jail" she answered. "Gauri I said don't fight me on this ..." she cuts him "but I can't go on like this" she stomped her feet "you have practically imprisoned me in this house or else with those bodyguards. I can't go on like that please. I don't know how to explain you that. You won't let me do anything and it's been months since I got discharged. I am well. What is your problem?" she shouted.
Omkara seemed to have had enough of that "I almost lost you, that is my bloody problem" he shouted as she jumped on the high pitch of his voice. "My problem is that I was helpless when I heard that you had slipped into coma. I felt like I was an irresponsible husband who can't even protect the one who he said he loved. I felt like I would lose you and you won't ever come back to me. All those months were a nightmare for me Gauri. I thought you won't ever come back and I would have to endure that pain for God knows how long. You, sleeping there with all those tubes attached to you were a horrible dream I witnessed daily and yet wasn't able to do anything" his voice broke at last.
Her eyes softened as she watched him. She went closer and took her face between her palms "look at me" he shook his head in a no. "Please?" she said in a soft whisper and he obliged. "It was not your fault, it was no one's fault Omkaraji. Sometimes something is just written and we have to endure all the pain it brings to us. Who knows Shankerji was testing us? Our love? Who knows maybe he wanted us to fight for each other and come back to each other?"
"But I can't let that happen otherwise Gauri" he told her with full sincerity. "And I know you won't, but Omkaraji you can't trap me because whatever would happen is inevitable and you trapping me won't change that" she answered. "It wasn't my intention to trap you. But I don't know, I was so scared" he said in a slow voice. "Hey, you don't have to be because until Omkara is there, Gauri is not going to go anywhere okay?" she looked at him, assuring him. "Sure?" he asked. "Pakka wala" she smiled and hugged him and he too enveloped her between his arms.
a year later
Gauri was working on a bridal lehenga which she had to design on an order for a bride. Gauri had taken up her dream of designing clothes and Omkara had supported her, though she was still an apprentice learning to polish her art, she was happy that even now she was doing something good with her life. Something that she had always wanted.
She said her goodbye to her friends in the store as she heard a horn and immediately rushed outside "good afternoon designer" Omkara winked, she blushed. "I am not a designer yet Mr chitrakar" she hopped in the front seat.
"So what plan today?" he asked. " How about we watch dabang with Sharmaji ke golgappe? Maa brought it for me today morning. They must be fresh" she beamed. "Not again" he rolled his eyes and she pouted. "How about I take you to a restaurant? A date? What say?" he smiled.
"Naa, baap re the menu there gives me a heart attack" she reasoned. "Then what? We can't stand the whole day here out of the store, now can we?" Omkara arched a bow.
"Hey how about I cook and you eat?" he asked her. "But you don't eat yourself or you eat less, whenever we do so" she said. " Who said that? Besides I love watching you eat. Come on, say yes; besides there is no one in the mansion today and I gave servants a holiday" he winked. "You ... Okay alright" Gauri blushed.
and they drove off to spend one of their many days together, forever.
Short right? I know but I can't help it. It's been a long weekend for me though. Hope you all enjoyed the story.
