He was sitting on the hospital bench beside the OT door. Waiting to meet her once. Hoping that she would be as good as she was before. The whole Oberoi clan was informed as each one came one by one, sat beside him, said a few words and went home. For him, he didn't even heard what people said because his mind was not in a position to take any other words after what the doctor said.

"Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst "

These were the only words were revolving in his mind on a loop. The time he closed his eyes, every such time what he saw was her face, smiling at him. And the moment he opened them he was back to her being no where.

The following morning the nurse came out "sir, you can meet her." He got up and went near the door. Taking a deep breath as if gaining energy he pushed the door knob open. Bright light welcomed his eyes with machines, tubes and white bed in the room.

The pain that enveloped him as if giving him a welcome hug strong and deep. Tubes and wires were attached to her giving her air and daily nutrients which was even more painful to see. It reminded him that his chirraiya was not dead or alive, but still struck in the middle; lost and unaware of where to go or even what to choose.

He took the seat next to her just looking at her for the longest time. The drip attached to her hand made them look even more pale. Bandages were there on her head, her arms and even her legs. He slowly brought his hand to keep it on hers. They were cold, as if yearning for warmth.

He immediately held her hand in his warm ones "your hands are so cold. Gauri, janti ho yahan sab tumhara intezaar kar rahe hain. Sach mein, open your eyes and look, Shivaay, Rudra, Annika bhabhi, Bhavya, mom, dadi... Sab. Get up.." he said slowly as if controlling his tears.

The feeling was different. She did not replied, nor laughed, nor smiled.

"I miss you" a sob escaped his eyes. He brought her hands to his cheek as he started shaking with uncontrollable sobs.

"Uth jaao Gauri. Waapis aa jaao mere paas. Apne Omkaraji ke paas waapis aa jaao. Please get up" he begged still shaking with tears.

He caressed her cheeks while still trying not to cry. His ever chirpy birdie was now lying between just whites. With her body still looking pale. Never did he saw her so lifeless, and the only thing he could do was beg her to come back.

"Om... Om...' Shivaay's voice woke him up. He didn't realised when did he sleep. "Omkara... Go home... At least freshn up your self" Shivaay said in a concerned tone. "Nahi Shivaay... Mujhe kahin nahi jaana..." Shivaay cuts him "Om you didn't had anything since yesterday. Eise khudko takleef dene she she will not come back. Ghar jaao, take some rest. Till then I and Annika are there" he said in a firm voice. "Par Shivaay...". "Koi par nahi... Go home and rest" Shivaay ordered.

Sighing he stood up and went out but not even once he stopped looking at her till the time he closed the knob back again.

He didn't wanted to return back. The house, his room, his life, as if everything looked empty. Their photos placed beside the drawer were a constant reminder that Gauri was still on bed, struggling to come back. He hated coming back to his room as everything here now belonged to her. As if everything had her touch, her feel and a reminder of her presence.

He changed himself into something casual and went to bed. His bed lacked her warmth now. The pillows still had her smell but not her. He placed his hand on her side of the bed and the other holding her pillow. He knew this won't change anything but still could soothe his aching heart at least a bit.
