Chapter 2

BELLA

"how dare that spawn of Satan embarrass me?" I thought to myself furiously as I sat in Mr Shane's math class. I bounced my feet back and forth, fidgeting in my seat.

I looked out of the window, tears threatening to roll down my cheeks. I wouldn't say I enjoyed being bullied and ridiculed but it was a lot more worse and heart breaking coming from Chase.

Nowadays I try not to think about him because he doesn't deserve my tears. He makes me feel totally worthless and unimportant. I keep wondering where the old Chase disappeared to.

You ruined him. I heard my subconscious say and I let out a sob.

I was brought back to the present by a loud bang on my table. I jumped in my seat, looking up to see an angry Mr Shane.

"Miss Connor, can you share your thoughts with the class. Since they seem to be more important than mathematics". He bellowed, shooting me a deadly glare.

I flinched and stared blankly at him.

"ehhhhh....huh......" I trailed off, looking down in embarrassment.

A gasp escaped me when I heard laughter erupt in the class. Can my day get any more worse? I thought.

"Quiet everyone"! Came Mr Shane's booming voice but I could still hear whispers here and there.
"Ensure that you pay attention.... His voice trailed off and his lips were set in a thin line.

I couldn't be more glad when I heard the shrill sound of the bell. I packed my things and rushed out of the class.
As I wove through the sea of students on my way to my locker, a familiar voice called out to me and a huge smile made its way to my face.

Soon, a happy Crystal jumped in front of me, grinning ear to ear.

"Hey babes"! She said cheerfully.

"Hi Crystal" I engulfed her in a hug, mirroring her excitement.

"I missed you so much. The summer break felt like forever". I chirped happily, pouting slightly.

"I know right! I missed you more. How have you been?" She asked, examining me carefully.

Not that I could tell her that her "amazing" twin has been a jerk to me, so I put up a front and pretended that I was doing great.

"Lunch?" She asked again, grabbing my hand.

"Errrr...... I stuttered, thinking of how to turn her down.

"Lunch it is then"! She pulled me towards the cafeteria without waiting for my reply. I silently followed her, feeling extremely nervous. You know why.....

We walked into the cafeteria and I caught my best friend searching for a familiar face, she pulled me towards his table once she spotted him.

She took her seat and greeted the group, gesturing for me to seat next to her. I stared dumbly at my air max, finding them more intriguing. Then she grabbed my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze as if to calm me down.

I slowly take my seat and I look up when I heard a scoff. I see four pair of eyes, staring back at me. McKenzie rolled her eyes and muttered something under her breath. Walter, Chase's best friend, offered me a small wave.

I could feel eyes burning holes into my head. I tried to ignore his stares, knowing fully well that he's gonna say something hurtful if I look to him.

"Bella, want to go get food with me?" I heard Crystal ask, she probably sensed my discomfort.

I stood on my feet, glad to get away from him. My heart was beating rapidly and I followed her like a dog on leash to the line. I bounced on the heel of my shoes, feeling tense knowing that a certain someone kept staring at me with hateful eyes.
