Kagura

Tokyo

1874

The night was wild as they celebrated the return of their dearest redhead in Otose's bar. Gintoki was crying as Tsukuyo smashed the bottle of Don Perignon on his head, Otae was punching Kondo, Hijikata tried to save his ex-commander, Sacchan was glaring at Tsukuyo for touching her Gin-san, while Kyubei was sitting by Otae as she smugly smiled at how she could hold onto Otae and Kondo could not.

And no one seemed to see Kagura slip away.

She leaned against the Gintoki's desk and sighed. Fingertips lifted from the requested leave letter she had set on the desk. She didn't want to be a buzzkill but she didn't have a choice.

I just got back after five years and now I'm leaving once more. That sadist owes me a shit ton of food.

"Are you leaving?" Kagura turned to face her friend who somehow managed to make his way out of the bar. "Are you leaving to find Okita-san?" he voiced out.

"I'll be back before you know it, Shinpachi. I'll come home dragging that dumbass by his stupid hair."

"You're always going off on your own, huh?" they shared the same sad smile, "Gin-san and I will be waiting for you here. So go," he reassured. Kagura eyed him a little longer before jumping off the rails, landing on her two feet before she ran off on her merry way.

"Be safe, Kagura-chan," and the whisper was unheard by her.

The door slides open as Gintoki came in staggering. "She already left, huh? That was faster than I anticipated."

"All we can do now is wait for their return, Gin-san."

She made her way to the ship docks, looking out for an acquaintance of her father. Thankfully, Umibozu had passed his friend's contact with her for emergencies. As for the search for Sougo, she didn't even know where to start.

No texts, no calls, and absolutely no fucking idea on where he was. He could be out of Earth on a different planet at this point.

"What a fucking pain," she grumbled. She fumbled with the mail she received from Sougo. Aside from the short message, there was no clue where he was. Or so she thought.

She took out the letter itself, and look into the envelope. She squinted her eyes and realised that there was a tiny black scribble at the folded edge, one would miss if they didn't stare hard enough. Hoping for some sort of guidance, she tore the envelope apart and straighten it out.

Just then, the helmsman of a familiar blue ship approached her. Kikunojo was his name. A man as old as her father who had white hair and charcoal grey eyes and an amiable smile .

" 'Er ya Kankou's whippersnapper? Kagura, yes?" his accent reminded her of her verbal tic back when she was younger. As she aged, her use of "—aru" soon be no more.

Nodding to his question, he followed up with a question, asking where she was headed to. All she did was passed him the torn up envelope, showing him the writing she discovered not long ago.

"Do you think you can drop me off at this coordinates?"

He guides her to the ship that was prepared to leave on his command. "No problem, miss. She can sail anywhere you want us to!"
