(Jessica in nurse form)
Jessica paced back and forth worried, not only was John's health getting worse, he planned on going under the knife, with tools that weren't sanitary and or made for frontal lobe tumor surgery. John's health was getting worse by the second, she was scared and didn't know what to do. They had to wait for the cheating wife to wake up in order to figure out how much longer he can go without being treated. but from the very little she knew about the medical field, she could say he didn't have much time left. As if on queue Amanda walks in pushing said woman in as well. Jessica frowned and watched the woman quietly standing stiffly and expressionless looking like a mannequin.
"Who are you, who are you?" Dr. Lynn asked twice getting louder screaming out at the end of her question making Amanda jump as she reached for the glass cup that was on the side table. Jessica walked over to Amanda and took the cup from her hands gently. They smiled at each other and blushed. Jessica moved away and walked a little bit of away to fill the glass. She brought it back right as John started talking to the Dr.
"Hello, Dr. Denlon. You may not remember me, but I most certainly remember you." John said as Jessica handed the glass cup full of water back to Amanda "I was a guest at your hospital once" John said as Amanda helped John by putting the straw into his mouth so John can drink the water.
"Where am I?" Dr. Lynn asked shaking in her seat while John moved away from the water.
"Do you remember me?" John asked while Amanda grabbed John's records and placed them on Dr. Lynn's lap. Dr. Lynn looked down and took notes from the papers
"I've seen you on television. Lawrence Gordon was your doctor" Dr. Lynn said
"I was his patient, and he was mine" John said as Amanda left the room. "If you can see from my report. My prognosis isn't good" John continued as Jessica walked over to sit behind the older man and gently rubbed his back. "Would you agree?" John asked
"There's no preventive treatment for what you have." Dr. Lynn said causing Jessica to growl under her breath thinking 'yeah no shit, not only did you say that to him before but it's one of your doctor's fault for that, you little piece of shit' Jessica thought as she tried to calm down
"I remember you saying that to me once before, in that exact same tone. Leave it to a doctor to put it in a cold clinical way to say that I'm a dead man walking. Looking at me how long would you say I have left?" John asked her
"I'd have to examine you, even then a frontal lobe tumor is unpredictable, The growth depends on the rate of mitosis versus apoptosis" Dr. Lynn said in a matter-of-factly tone.
"I'm sorry, but is all this crude medical equipment around me causing you to believe that you're still inside a hospital?" John asked
"No" Dr. Lynn said rolling her head back
"Then why are you speaking to me in that graduate school medical jargon?" John asked. "Look at me!" John screamed at her sitting up a bit causing the woman to scream. Jessica jumped and made sure John didn't hurt himself "Now, you look at me. I asked you a simple question. Based on your experience, how long do you think I have left?" John continued as Jessica gently checked his neck to make sure he didn't pull a muscle or get whiplash when he moved the way he did to yell at the Doctor.
"It's not a simple answer. Based on your file, I'd say... not long." Dr. Lynn said. Right when she said that he started coughing. Jessica helped him lay back and put his air mask back on.
"Death is a surprise party.
Unless, of course, you're already dead on the inside." John said as Amanda comes in with some tea and places it next to John "Unless you're the type of person who swallows antidepressants to hide the pain, huh? Turns their back on their husband. Neglects their child. Who has every possible advantage in life but chooses not to advance" John said"What do you want from me?" Dr. Lynn asked
"What do I want? I want to play a game. The rules of the game are simple. The consequences for breaking them are great. Death. You're being tested. Your will is being tested. Your will to keep someone alive. Can you do that? Can you follow the rules and grant someone the gift of life?" John said as Jessica quietly walked over to the doctor. Jessica had a frown on her face. She was gonna hate this and she knew it. John was gonna go through with it, he was gonna get the surgery. She was scared but her flawless face hid it well. To Dr. Lynn Jessica looked like a nurse from a horror film. Her blue hair fell elegantly over her shoulders, she looked like a doll. The white dress she wore showed off her perfectly smooth legs, her feet that had gorgeous white heels that made her feet look tiny which they were, it showed her white gloves that covered her petite and elegant looking hands and on top of that perfect blue hair was an all White nurse cap.
"No! Get it--" Dr. Lynn struggled but cried out when Amanda pulled her hair
"Amanda don't do that" Jessica said gently. The doctor was shocked, this woman's voice for her perfectly monotone but elegant, smooth and sweet. Jessica took the woman's hair so Amanda can get the trap on the woman.
"No! No! What is this! What are you doing to me?" The doctor asked snapping out of it and struggled. Once it was on Jessica went to John's side and frowned as she looked at the woman
"The device that you're wearing is linked to John's heart rate monitor. The second that heart rate monitor flatlines or you move out of range, an explosion will go off in that collar. Your life and his life will end simultaneously. Hopefully it doesn't come to that am I right Dr. Lynn?" Jessica asked her frown deepened as she glared at the doctor. Out of everyone this nurse was the scariest. She was unpredictable.
"Please. Please don't do this to me. I have a family. I have a family." Dr. Lynn said about to cry.
"Let me give you the simple version. You will keep him alive, whatever it takes. No excuses. No equivocations. No crying." Amanda said as Jessica smirked. She walked over and played with the woman's hair.
"What do you mean, keep him alive?" Dr. Lynn asked causing Jessica to stop playing with her hair as Amanda grabbed the woman's hair and pulls it to make her look over her shoulder causing said Dr. To whine
"Out there, on those screens, we have another test subject. A man. He will face a series of tests. You have to keep John alive until he makes it through. If he completes all of his tests and John is still breathing, then I will remove your collar... and you're free to go." Amanda whispered into the woman's ear activating the bullets.
"That's right. And if he dies I'll make sure to kill you before the collar has a chance" Jessica growled into the woman's other ear giggling
"You're a vital piece of my puzzle, Dr. Denlon. A critical part of what could be my final test. Amanda, it's time to start our game." John said. Amanda smiles and walks out of the room. Jessica sat with John and smiled.
