Chaeyoung had lived in solitude for as long as she could remember, her only comfort being the ever changing walls of her clinical, white prison, allowing her glimpses of the outside world from time to time. She often wondered if she was the only person on earth. The only person, trapped forever in a cage, forced to sit and watch mystical walls all day.

Today the ceiling was open, allowing Chaeyoung a look to the dark sky above. It was littered with stars and planets, beautiful and bright against the deep blue of the atmosphere. She admired it from a place on the floor. She lay back and stared.

The walls were acting funny today, fading in and out in indecision. It was starting to give Chaeyoung a headache just before she realised that the wall in front of her had turned transparent. What she saw made her feel like crying.

A girl. Another girl approached through the trees that surrounded the cage, her expression and body language cautious and wary. She came all the way up to the wall, and looked inside, directly at Chaeyoung.

Her eyes were like the stars.

Chaeyoung felt her lips curl into a smile. The girl was hesitant, but responded, her lips turning up slightly in return.

Chaeyoung didn't know it, but that girl, Mina, had been wandering through the dark forest surrounding Chaeyoung's cage for as long as she could remember, her only comfort being the way the leaves would light up around her as she walked and sparkle when she touched them. She, too, often wondered if she was the only person on earth. The only person, trapped in an eternal forest, forced to walk to no end.

But then she found the girl in the cage.

And just like that, they weren't alone anymore.
