When the Rain Pours

Sana didn't know how she was going to get home. She had just been left in the rain by an angry boyfriend outside of a restaurant. She didn't want to relive the past few hours of hell she had just been through, but she felt it all coming back to her as she sat on the steps in the rain. She should have never agreed to let him drive her. She had known all along that this would happen. It always happened.

She was always left by herself. In the rain. Shivering in the cold. Alone.

She had thought of standing on the side of the street to hitch a ride home, but she knew that would just get her drenched and probably kidnapped. She was going to call her mum to pick her up, but of course her phone was dead.

So there she sat. Alone. Without even the courage to cry.

She stared out into the rain, her eyes unfocussed and her shoulders slouched.

"Hey, you ok?" A voice just ahead questioned. Sana refocused her eyes on a girl, holding an umbrella, her face concerned and her head cocked slightly to the side. She smiled slightly.

"Do you need a ride home? I have a car. I'll take you." She said.

Sana was bewildered, feeling her own lips turn into a soft smile.

She forgot about the rain in an instant.
