The hail knocked against my window just like the night before.
It's the middle of spring, I have no idea why it's hailing.
I pick up my phone, it's 01:43am. I have to be awake in less than 5 hours. I don't usually have an issue with falling asleep, but lately I've been seeing too many shadows in the dark.
I decided to walk to the gas station. Not the safest thing to do, I know, but my mom hasn't been the best of role models.
I get out of bed and grab my sweatshirt that was lying on a chair.
I leave my bedroom light off and walk through the lit house towards the door.
I lock the door behind me and make my way down the dimly lit street.
The hail was small and barely noticeable.A couple minutes later I could see the bright neon sighs outside the gas station.
The inside was empty, it was just your standard gas station.
I picked out an energy drink and went to pay. The guy behind the till looked tired, maybe I should get a job here, it'd give me something to do with my energy.
I smiled and paid, then walked back home.
The house was exactly how I left it, it was the only house on the street that had lights on.
As soon as I opened the door I could hear my little brother crying. I walked to his room, it was empty besides him. My mom put him to sleep, but must've left after he fell asleep.
I'm not surprised at this point.I made sure he was okay and stopped him from crying, then put him back to sleep. I waited a few minutes then left, closing the door.
After spending a few minutes looking for my mom and turning off lights. My mom's nowhere to be seen.
This doesn't faze me as much as it did when I was younger, you just get used to things after they happen a certain amount of times I guess.
