Okuyasu took the prince's hand reluctantly. It wasn't as if he had anything left to lose by following him. His pace quickly matching Jouskes as he moved quickly and confidently through the forest pulling Okuyasu along by the hand. As the village came into view through the trees Okuyasu slowed down trying to pull his arm from Josuke's grip. "I cant. It's too much." He says prying away from the prince backing away. "If they see what I am they could harm me or even kill me." He tucked his tail up into the coat hiding it from view.
Josuke turned around to look at Okuyasu and took both of his hands into his own. Squeezing them reassuringly the same way his father always had done for him as a child when facing new and scary situations. "Okuyasu, I want to help you." Josuke's voice was calm and kind as he spoke, his big blue eyes staring into Okuyasu's colorless irises. "I won't let anyone lay a finger on you. As the prince, I have a level of authority that can ensure your safety. We just need to get to the castle."
Okuyasu was speechless, only nodding in response. This was a feeling that he had never experienced before. Dragons are naturally solitary for most of their lives so such an act of compassion was a completely foreign experience for him. He held Josuke's hand tightly and once again followed his lead.
The village was just one big sensory overload for Okuyasu. Sights, smells and sounds assaulted him from all sides as they hurried through the city. His only comforts were the gentle squeezes Jouske gave his hand whenever he could see Okuyasu becoming overwhelmed. It was only a short walk to the castle gates but it had felt like an eternity. Okuyasu immediately felt more at ease when the castle gates closed behind them. Large doors opened up before him as Josuke led him into the castle and up the stairs. Okuyasu's eyes were as wide as dinner plates as he took it all in. The palace was immaculate, Oku had never seen anything quite like it.
While he was so caught up in admiring the castle details Okuyasu hadn't paid attention to where they were going and when they stopped in front of a door he gave Josuke a look of confusion. "This is my room, I hope you don't mind sharing a room? I don't mind taking the couch at night." Josuke pushed the door open and gestured to the large room.
"You live here? Is this like your nest?" Oku asked inquisitively.Josuke laughed and shook his head. "Hahaha. No, not quite, this is just where I sleep." He let go of Okuyasu's hand and walked across the room and sat on the bed, stretching out across it. "Make your self at home. It is your home now haha, at least it will be if you do choose to stay."
"Home...?" Oku says the word as if it were the first time he's ever heard it. "I've never had a home before... It does seem pretty amazing though so I think I'll stay. " He crosses the room to sit on the bed beside Josuke and lies down letting out a loud yawn. Josuke looks at Oku with a smile and closes his eyes excited to see what the future has to offer with his strange new friend.
