The sky was blue and the sun was shining when their love began.
It was a story just like any other.
They met in high school having been in the same class, grew close, and officially began dating at the start of University.
Their relationship was strong all throughout the years under the protection of school policies and tradition.
But the reality of the adult world was devastating.
"I fucking hate you!" She cried as she ran out the door, holding onto the cheek he'd slapped. Her tears ran down her face, cooling down the red hand print as she sprinted, running off into nowhere.
Again.
He hit her again.
Everyday, fight after fight, bruises and scars increasing physically and emotionally.
She was exhausted with this routine.
Yet she couldn't leave him.
She loved him.
He didn't use to be like this.
He used to smile like everything was going to be okay, as long as they were together.
And they were.
Until his new job ruined him.
He pushed her onto the wall, with so much strength for the first time. He pressed her down on her neck, almost so hard that she couldn't breathe properly, and her two hands struggled to loosen his grip.
He grit his teeth, and she could see tears slowing leaking out his eyes. "You think I'm a loser too, don't you? You think I should die too, don't you?" His grip tightened. "You want to leave me too?"
She choked once, and he gasped, abruptly losing his tight grip around her neck, and she immediately collapsed to the ground, coughing and drained of her energy.
He knelt down beside her, holding her gently. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, please don't leave me. I love you, I need you."
Overwhelmed, but not afraid, she gently returned the embrace with her trembling hands.
This was him, the one she fell in love with.
As long as she was with him, as long as they were together, everything will be okay.
"I love you too."
She'd thought this would all end.
.
.
.
"Please, just leave me alone..." he cried into his hands, his words small and weak, as if he didn't want to say such words, yet he had to.
For her.
"Go away, I don't want to do this anymore."
No. She didn't want to hear this.
She wanted him to say they were going to be okay, that he loved her.
He gave a heavy sigh before walking off with his luggage, leaving her in the middle of the apartment, broken.
The sky was blue and the sun was shining when their love ended.
