I woke up in happier mode than I was yesterday. It's been a week since I've sent in my song to my record label and they are going to make it a single! It's gonna be on the radio and everything!
I got a bunch of inspiration from the kids. In fact I started writing another song that was personal about them that was personal. I call it 'still fallin'.
Noah came into my room and sat down on my bed. "Whatcha doing daddy?"
"Oh nothing just making some music" I said. Noah laid his head down on my shoulder. "Mommy called" he said. Those two words stunned me. I immediately dropped everything and rushed downstairs.
I picked up the phone and dialed the number back from the answering machine. "Hello" said a voice from the other end of the phone.
"Susan? Is that you?" I asked. "Yeah Charlie it's me." She said. She didn't seem to happy.
"I just need a favor. Could you spare me a couple of dollars please?" She asked in that sugary sweet voice. I wasn't playing into her tricks this time around. I knew she needed it for cigarettes and beer.
"Uh no I don't believe I have any for you"I answered. "OH COME ON CHARLIE GET THE FREAK OVER IT! HOW LONG ARE YOU GONNA HARBOR IN THIS, THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I LEFT YOU!" she yelled.
Tears filled my eyes. My heart sank like it when she told me that she didn't love me. She ran off with her new boyfriend.
"G-goodbye Susan!" I said with my voice cracking. I hung up the phone and went back upstairs. Noah saw me wiping tears away.
"What's wrong Daddy?" He asked. "Oh nothing, you finish your snack".
If Noah saw me crying, then he would cry. I didn't deserve Susan. She was a monster with no filter and if she doesn't love me or MY boys then that's her loss.
Anyway I went back to writing my song down my song.
You'd think of all the days I've known you, that I would have you memorized by now. With Every question answered,
Every single page turned,

I could feel my emotions pouring out like it did when I wrote amen. I smiled just thinking about Noah and Elijah.

It was official. I started tearing up. I needed this to be my next single. I continued writing.

I ended that sentence with a period. I sent it in as my next single.
