There was quite little she imagined that could alleviate the pain of losing her only sister, but time. She was dumbfounded by the news.

She could not imagine how her sister was processing the upcoming departure. How betrayed she might feel by her people and their father.

There were many differences between them and it could not be blamed on the fact that her father had not bred her like he had Rami. It had always been clear to her that Viho Nanuq had a leaning towards his eldest daughter. It wasn't right for her sister was much greater than she was.

Elvina clearly wore her name the best, better than any of the hunters. She was a true wolf. She smart, reliant, and powerful. A power that was naturally gifted to her in the form of patients.

The White Wolf truly was a wolf, cunning and all. The White Bear was no bear for he did not love his cubs equally.

She pushed herself closer to Makya, to feel his warmth seep into her. It felt comforting to be next to him as they sat around the fire in the village center. Although a cold breeze had pick up the heat he radiated was greater than that of the fire.

She truly did love him.

She would always love him no matter the distance.

She would always love her sister no matter the distance between them. Always and forever.

He had always been kind to her. He made her feel like the coldest of winter days could not freeze her skin. He was light and warmth. A fire that made the Long Night liveable. He gave her the joy to live.

She had been lucky that her father had found him most agreeable. Had been lucky that her father had allowed her to be with such a generous and kind man.

It had been a great gift for her to wed the man she loves, not a man chosen for her. She could not have been able to bear that. A lifetime of hate would have been eternal torture. Death in life. Shallowness.

There was no hiding that he was a great warrior. That he like her sister would have the opportunity to join the other most wonderous of people in the sky when their death came. The great bear would grant them entry into his realm. They had honor.

She did not.

She was in a way jealous that her sister had been gifted the chance of an assured place in the sky, to meet the great god. For her and her father had a great chance of passing her afterlives in the sea goddess's realm under the ocean. An eternity with monstrous creature and beasts.

How fair was that to her?

She was good and kind. Even if she lacks the mythical abilities of her sister she still deserved a chance to die peacefully.

Honour wasn't everything.

It did not make a good person.

It was evident to even her that her father did not have a worth great enough to be considered with the honor of peaceful eternity. Neither did she.

Although they were not worthy, it did not mean that they were not decent people.

Her unworthiness arose from her position.

Her father was a great chief, a great man, and a great father but he had many flaws, ones that made him love unequally, which he had passed on to his eldest daughter.

Although as hard for her to admit, it was true.

She loved unequally.

Flaw. Her flaw.

This flaw she shared with her father, was their end.

Elvina, although she stayed separate and belittle herself immeasurably, loved equally. She held everyone to the same desire expectations. She judged equally.

Everyone in the village was as flawed as the next in her sister's eyes. They were all despicable as the next. But her perception did not affect her love, she loved everyone in the village although she did not show it in flamboyant ways. She truly did love them all.

Elvina was fair. She was sound.

Makya pressed his lips to her ear.

The gentle peck reined her wondering mind back into safe quarters. Back into her skull.

"Do you wish to go back to our hut?" he asked. His breath caressing the sensitive skin of her neck.

It made her toes curl.

She simply nodded.

She did not wish to speak.

The heat of his bodied stopped cocooning her as he moved away and stood.

He offered her his opened hand.

She took it.

They walked back to their hut hand in hand.

The journey progressed slowly s they wove their way towards their hut, situated on the outer most ring of the village. They had chosen to live as far away as they could from her father hut. She hadn't wished to be to close to her father. He would have always been sneaking his head into their hut to check on them.

"She will be fine you know?" Makya murmured, it was more of a statement than a question.

He knew that she knew that her sister would be alright.

"But that will not stop me from worrying about her," her voice was soft and honey-like her father's a sharp contrast to her husbands raspy-brittle tone, "It will not stop from missing her."

"Distance will not stop the love you have for her." he looked at her intently. His brows rose and a tight smile spread across his lips.

He was right, she should have nothing to fear her sister would be more than alright but what would change would be their interaction with one another.

Their interactions would cease entirely.

Already that they saw very little of each other. They would no longer be in each other's lives.

She would stay with Makya.

With time Makya and she would take the place that her mother and father had governing the village.

Elvina would travel, Rami would never be able to know exactly where her sister was or what she was doing.

Maybe she was more fearful of what was to come than her sister was.

Rami's fear...

Well her fear was of the unknown. Of not knowing.

They finally made it to their hut.

Soon, Makya had wrapped his arms around the beautiful Rami as they lay under some furs. He kissed his lover's temple before falling asleep beside her.

Rami spend the night looking into the darkness as her husband's constant breath repeated itself throughout the night.
