(Izuku 's POV)
I sit up to the loud clang of a pot falling in the other room. I jump off the small makeshift bed I have on the floor of my mothers bedroom. I pull my old black pants on and rush into the room over. "Mom are you ok?!?" I yell as enter into the bakery. "I'm so sorry Izuku Hun I drop a pot but I'm okay. I was just making some bread for all the people who go to work early." As she said this I became even more frustrated. I love my mother with all my heart and I hate to see her suffer so the fact that she's up at 5 am is super frustrating to me. If she woke me up we could both sleep in till at least 5:50 but she insistes that I'm doing to much already.                                                                                                                                We have had a really hard life. My mom got pregnant at the young age of 16 and my father who I've never met abandoned us. My mother worked herself to the bone to provide enough for us. Getting up at 4:00 and going to bed  well past 12:00. I love her so much she is so kind and never complains. But I can't help but feel guilty. She does so much for me and I feel like I can never pay her back.                                                                                                                                            "Mom please wake me up next time. I love helping you!" I say quickly. She smiles and replies "I know Izuku but I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself. You should go back to bed I'll wake you when I come back from running errands." "No mom I'm already up just make me a list I can pick it up for you." I say in a tone that tells her that I'm not taking  no for and answer. She nods her heads and writes down some ingredients on a piece of parchment. I grab it pull on my worn down red sneakers that my mom bought me two years ago for my 14th birthday. And run out the door. I ran pass 4 or 5 houses before getting into town. In the kingdom I live at the Ember Empire there are three regions the kingdom itself, town, and the junction. Me and mom live in the poorest part of town the junction. Luckily we got a home close to town it makes business much better. Our house is generally on the way to the mines. The mines are were most everybody works. The mines are an awful place to work. although it does pay enough to feed two people it is very very hard work. When I was four or so my mom got herself a job in the mines. But with her short small build it was almost impossible for her to do anything meaning she got paid way less. Also to make matters worst she has bad lungs. Making it really hard to breath. Finally she had to quit because she kept passing out duo to not getting enough air. After that she started selling bread and pastries.          I start to feel dizzy all the sudden and stop running. Even though I've only been running for like three minutes my malnourished body started to ache. Even though me and my mom work our butts off we still have never had enough to eat. I start walking and pick up the all the stuff my mom needs. I'm finished by 1:00 and I head home. Me and my mom work the rest of the day and close down the bakery at six.                                                                                                              We sit down to eat dinner together the one meal a day we do eat except the rare loaf of bread that falls on the floor. Me and my mom split a small stale loaf of bread from three days ago. "So Izuku tomorrow is choosing day... And King Endevor wants you to be in town square by 10:00....ok?" I nod my head slowly as I stiffly take another bite of my share of the bread. If always hated choosing days. One day every year the king sends down his servents and people from the castle to pick out some new servents. I have always hated the thought of being whisked away from my family with no say in the matter. My best friend Kachan was chosen when he was 4 and I haven't heard or seen him since. Finnish my meal and help my mom pick up the kitchen before we head to bed. I lay down in the small pile of old blankets and rags on the ground and fall into a restless sleep.
