"This or this?" Katie said, looking into the mirror, holding up two yellow dresses, frowning in confusion.
"They look just the same!" Sarah protested. Katie turned to glare at her thrusting one of the yellow dress in her face.
"This," she said, shaking the dress, "is a chrome yellow with off-shoulder sleeves. And this," shoving the other dress in her friend's face, "is a lemon yellow dress with straps! There's a difference between them, of course!"
Sarah rolled her eyes at her friend's antics. If she kept these monkeys for friends, soon she'll have no eyes left to roll. "Okay fine," she said, giving up, "This one looks better on you." She pointed at the lemon yellow dress Katie was holding up. And it actually did. It brought out the natural tan of Katie's skin.
"Hmm... Okay," Katie mumbles, dubiously putting that dress in front of her and looking in the mirror.
Frowning, she turns back to Sarah. "Maybe I should try that white one out," she said, already ruffling through her growing pile of dresses.
Sarah groaned. It has been two hours since they've left her house for the mall, and one and a half-hour since Katie had been at this. She had been constantly selecting and rejecting dresses. The poor sales girl had left them to themselves a while ago, giving up on assisting Katie in finding the 'perfect' dress. And Sarah hadn't even looked one for herself.
"Hey! This looks good right?" Katie asked, turning around to show her the new pale blue dress she had positioned on herself. It was a really beautiful piece of work.
Sarah said, "It's perfect Katie! Now, can we please get out of here? We need to be at the beach by eight."
"No way! We're getting you a dress first!" Katie said, waggling her finger in front of Sarah's face.
"But I thought maybe I could pick something at Madam McAvery's," she said sheepishly.
Katie brightened instantly. "Why hadn't I thought of this before! That old lady always have something amazing up her sleeves. C'mon... I'll also pick myself something from there," throwing the dress back at the pile of clothes, she grabbed Sarah's arm and pulled her towards the exit.
Sarah stared wide-eyed at her best friend. Was she trying to drive her mad? While leaving the house she had suggested they go to Madam McAvery's but Katie, on a shopping rampage, had insisted to come to the mall. And now she wanted to go back there? After wasting two fucking hours!? Sarah seriously wanted to murder her and throw her body in the ocean, where no one would find her.
The sales assistant, who had assisted them in the beginning, turned to Katie with a forced smile.
"So, which dresses have you finally chosen madam?" she asked in an exasperated tone.
"None," Katie said, haughtily. "Your collection is very bad," saying bluntly, she continued to drag Sarah towards the exit.
Sarah glanced over her shoulder to see the sales girl's mouth hanging wide open and the shocked expression on her face. Giving her an apologetic and sympathetic look, she turned back towards Katie as they reached the exit.
Katie quickly crossed the parking lot and sat in the driver's seat of her car, huffing impatiently for Sarah to get in.
"We need at least two hours to do hair and makeup! Ughh... why did we come to the mall? We're so stupid." Katie snapped while pulling the car out of the parking and driving towards the shop.
Sarah gasped. "I already suggested we go to Madam McAvery's in the first place! It was your idea to come to the mall. So we're not stupid, you're stupid!"
