A week later
Maria
Jack's parents will be here in exactly 10 minutes and I'm freaking out. I don't like to be all touchy-touchy with Jack's mom. I thought I had to "impress" her, so I wore a Glitter Lace Jersey Hight-Neck-A-Line Gown.
Jay was wearing a Black Armani Suit with a Gray Shirt
And we put Bay in a Red Dress and a Red Headpiece
Bay looked really pretty and I knew I did a good job dressing her. Exactly 10 minutes later, Jack's parents were here. I held Bay as I made my way to the front door to greet my in-laws. Jack's mom wouldn't stop hugging him, so his dad had to stop her. As I went in for a hug, she ducked out of my way, and went into the living room. Huh, she got the wrong one. I'm her daughter-in-law and she needs to get used to it.
We made our way to the dinner table and I put Bay in a bassinet type seat thingy because I wasn't gonna hold her throughout dinner and she was too small for a high chair. After I strapped her in, I turned towards Jenny and Harold and smiled at them. Jenny of course rolled her eyes at me. This is gonna be one hell of a long dinner.
"So, Maria, do you have a job?" Jenny asked. "Here we go" Jay whispered under his breath, so only I could hear him. "Actually, I do. I work as co-owner of King's Incorporation" I said proudly.(They moved the company Upstate with them and his parents didn't know she is co-owner) "Since I had Bay, I'm gonna take off for a while and take care of her" I also said. "Oh, so your just gonna sit around the house, taking care of my grandchild, and spend Jack's money while he works shift to shift?" She questioned. I'm bout to catch a damn case tonight.
"Uh no, I take care of Bay, do a little cleaning, and do everything I can to help around the house" I said forcing a smiling. "That wedding ring sure looks expensive for you to be doing something around this house. Sure you not just marring my son for his money and you're a gold digger?" Jenny asked smirking at me. That's my cue.
I stood up from my chair and looked her in the eyes and said, "I've been trying to be nice for way too long and it's obviously not working. I'm a nice person, but you got the wrong one. I married Jay for love, not money, not to get famous. Nothing. As you can see, we have a daughter. I think that's proof enough that it was love at first sight" I finished calmly and took Bay with me into our bedroom, closing the door, shutting in the process.
Jack
I saw how upset M was and what my mom said was not okay. "Jack, your just gonna let her talk to me like that?" My mom said surprised. "Actually, yes I am mom. You just called my wife a gold digger and offended her. You need to get used to that we're married and if not, you need to leave. Now if you excuse me, I have a wife and daughter to take of" I said turning towards me and M's room. "See what you did Jenny? He's happy for once, so why can you expect that?" I heard my dad say as I disappeared down the hall.
I went into our room and saw M with her back towards me and holding Bay. "It's okay pretty girl. Mommy's okay, it's just you're grandma hates me, but I'll be fine" M said as Bay cooed at her and grabbed her face. "She doesn't hate you Love, she just getting use to me being married to someone who makes me happy" I said to M as she turned around and looked at me with tear filled eyes. "Really Jay?" M said looking for hope. "Yes I'm sure" I said, then M got up.
As I wonder where she was going, I followed her and we stopped at the dinner table. "I'm sorry for going off on you Jenny. I just lost it" Mar said with more tears coming down her face. "No Maria, I should be sorry. I called you a gold digger when I know you're not one. I'm just not use to someone not using Jay for his money" my mom said as she went to go hug M. "Now, I hope we can be a family" I said as I looked at Mar and my parents. "Of course" my mom said. "Group hug" Maria stated. Everyone hugged each other and was careful to not to hit Bay's head. This was a good day.
