"I found no cure for the loneliness, I found no cure for the sickness.
Nothing here feels like home
Crowded streets, but I'm all alone"
"Well, ain't that some shit?"

Ring! Ring!
"Ugh Shut up!" A brown haired woman with light amber skin groaned as she shoved her face into her pillow and attempted to shut off her alarm by smacking her hand on the phone that was charging on her black nightstand.
"Fucking hell!" The woman huffed as she sat up in her bed and grabbed her phone, she turned off the alarm and groaned. The woman slipped out of her comfortable bed, her bare feet hitting the cold floor and she walked out of her room that looked like it's straight out of a pinterest post.
She walked down the dark hardwood stairs and into the kitchen, the cold tile floors shocking her body awake with chills but she was still tired enough that she walked past a figure of a man without noticing him.
The brunette grabbed a white mug that said 'Okey Dokey' on the front of it from the cabinet and moved towards the coffee pot, as she made her coffee, a pair of arms wrapped around her shoulders making her jump a little. "Fuck!"
"Good morning, Sae." The deep voice of a man said, making the woman known as Salem smile. "Good morning, Diego, you broke into my house again?" Salem asked as she turned around to face the man, forcing him to release his hold on her. "It's not breaking in if I have a key." Diego replied with a smirk and held up a key in his right hand that he seemed to pull out of no where .
"I don't know if I should be mad or impressed so I'm going for the latter. Anyways, do you want any coffee, Diggy?" The brunette said with a shrug and turned back to her coffee cup. "No thanks, Sae. I just came to check on you." Diego told her as he leaned against the marble counter.
Salem looked at Diego confused as she walked to the fridge to get cream. "Check on me? Why?" She questioned as she poured the cream into her coffee, Diego put his hand over hers and put the cream down. "Didn't you hear the news?" Diego asked her, concerned.
"What news, Dee?" Salem replied with narrow eyes and furrowed eyebrows. "Dad died." Diego told her and she just snorted like she heard a funny joke. Salem froze when the male didn't join in. "For real?" She laughed again, a sort of laugh that would make your stomach ache and Diego laughed along with her but it wasn't as happy as hers. "Well, ain't that some shit?" She giggled as a few tears slipped down her cheeks, unnoticed by the woman.
"You okay, Sae?" Diego asked her as her laughter turned into sobs but Salem didn't reply, she just hugged her brother and sobbed into his chest.
"I know, Sae. I know." Diego told Babydoll as he ran his hand through her long brunette hair to comfort her. "H-he's dead, that means we have to go back! I-I can't go back, Diggy, I can't f-face them." The brunette sobbed.
Diego pulled away from the hug and looked down at his sister, as she was easily a foot shorter than his six foot height. "Yes, you can. You're Salem Mariana Hargreeves, the craziest and strongest woman I have ever known, You can do this. No one knows what happened that night and no one ever will, we just have to show up for the funeral and then we can leave, ok?" Diego told his sister.
"If I see him, I don't know if I can lie to him about that night." Salem replied with a sigh. "Salem, we agreed to never talk about that night, it could break the family even more than it already is. What we did-" "It's what I did, Diego. You weren't supposed to be there." Salem corrected her brother, making him sigh. "But I was and I helped you, that makes it what we did. Now, sit down and drink your coffee, I'm going to pack you a bag." Diego told her as he handed Salem her coffee before disappearing upstairs.
Salem sighed and opened her phone, clicking on the phone call app. Her thumb hovered over a contact for a minute before she scrolled down to a different contact and clicked the call button.
"Hey, my dad died so I might be gone for a few days, just don't forget to feed the animals. I promise I won't be more than a couple of days... Yes, Diggy is with me, do you want to say hi?" Salem asked the person on the other side of the line just as Diego walked down the stairs with a black suitcase in hand.
Salem handed Diego the phone as she took a sip of her coffee, Diego put the phone up to his ear and put Salem's suitcase on the ground. "Hey, yeah, we'll be back as soon as possible... She's fine, we'll see you later." Diego said before handing the phone back to his sister. "Okay, I'll call you later. Bye." Salem told the person on the other side of the line and hung up.
"Ready?" Diego asked his sister as she got out of her chair. "To jump out of a window? Yep." She replied sarcastically, making Diego laugh as he threw his arm over her shoulders. "There's that sarcasm that I know so well. Come on, we have a funeral to go to." Diego says as they walk out the front door of Salem's house.
"I hate you for making me go to this."
"Love you too, sis."
