"No family is perfect... we argue, we fight. We even stop talking to each other at times but in the end, family is family. The love is still there."
-Unknown

The commotion in the kitchen wakes Kofi from his slumber. He lets out a yawn while stretching wildly. Checking the time on the SmartTV, it was a little after one. They stayed up until about four in the morning watching Reasonable Doubt on Hulu; it was a nice binge watch; they bothered prayed that love would never find them.

"Good afternoon," Kofi coos warmly as he sits at the island and rubs his eye.

"Hey Ko!"

His lips twist to the side; he heard her call him that the other day when they went to get him a phone but he was hoping that it didn't stick. She goes into the pantry but since she's aiming for something out of her reach, Kofi gives her a helping hand. As he towers behind her, Adanna made sure to make no sudden moves.

"Thank you. I made something different today so I hope you like it," her tone is a bit breathy as she ducks under his arm to get to the stove.

Something with noodles and veggies were on the menu. Kofi's stomach rumbles as the contents become clear and the small smell of ginger rest in his nose hairs. The mood is light as music vibrates the house. Kofi pushes himself from the counter and hits a two step causing Adanna to giggle while she stirs the pot. He holds out his hand for Adanna to take yet she sheepishly she shakes her head.

"Come on, won't you take a poor sinner's hand?"

Adanna didn't want to deny him since he used the Princess and the Frog reference so she takes his hand. With ease, Adanna's body glides to Kofi; she is surprised when the distance is suddenly reduced. Kofi's eyes fall down to Adanna and he couldn't stop the smile stretching on his lips.

"Why are you so beautiful?"

Adanna's eyes snatch away from his as her cheeks stains brighter than a tomato. She doesn't like the butterflies soaring in her stomach. With every other man, Adanna felt loathsome when they would hit on her. Kofi's words are causing conflict within her and she knew it was too soon to explore those feelings. Adanna turns back to the food but her movements are more aggressive.

"Kofi you shouldn't say things like that. With every thing you've been through, we can't risk crossing that line and somebody ends up hurt."

"It slipped, Adanna but I can't deny the light I see when I look at you; you shine that bright. I understand that I've made you uncomfortable though so it won't happen again," Kofi finds his way back to his seat as he curses to himself.

Adanna is about to respond when Kofi's phone vibrates the island. He hops up and rushes to the stairs; he skips every other step. When he makes it to his room he tries to quickly catch his breath. After his last exhale, he clicks the green icon to answer. His body freezes but a heat flash comes from his nervousness. There's a brief silence that makes Kofi think it was a pocket dial.

"Who the fuck are you? You're treading a very thin nerve mentioning what's supposed to be a dead man to me. Kofi if this is truly you, what gave you the fucking audacity and balls to contact me?"

"Damn man, it-it's good to hear your vo-voice. I don't know what to sa-say," Kofi is stammering on his words when he acknowledges that he is speaking to Kareem; his voice deeper than Kofi remembers.
