Let me protect you

I opened my eyes slowly as I woke up. My head was on something muscular but warm. And this smell...it's familiar. Like the time I was held in an embrace in the dark classroom. I looked up slowly to see what my warm pillow was.

-Are you awake now?
Gavin's face was inches from mine. He looked me in the eyes with a soft smile.

After realizing what was going on, I sat up straight facing the ground.

-I...I'm sorry! Did I sleep all that time on...your shoulder?
I muttered my words as I felt my cheeks getting red.

Gavin chuckled
- It's fine. I figured out you would be more comfortable like this.

I looked at him
- I was more comfortable.

This time Gavin's ears got tinted pink.

He coughed.

-I-If you're too tired we can do this in another time.

- Do this?...Oh! You mean the testimony. I can do it!

Gavin and I entered the room. He sat in front of me with a recording device.

-Oh by the way where is Kiro? He was in here before I fell asleep.

-He left after he was done.
Answered Gavin with a serious voice.

-Oh...

I don't know why I felt a little sad knowing that. I didn't get the chance to thank him...

-I need you to tell me everything that happened tonight.

As I started telling him what happened, how the guys talked to me, how they hurt my hands, Gavin started biting his lips. I could see his veins popping from his clenching  fists.

-I'm so grateful Kiro was here to save me. Without him I don't know what could've happened to me.

After hearing my last words Gavin got up from his chair, put both of his hands on the table in front of me and looked me in the eyes frowning.

-I am the one who should protect you!

I could feel his hot breath on my nose.

-I...

The tips of our noses were almost touching.

He looked at me with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
He lowered his head and softened his voice.

-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm just mad at myself for not being there when you were in danger.

His words made my heart beat faster. I looked at him surprised not knowing what to do.

He went back to his seat and kept the testimony going.

Behind the tinted glass of the room were two police officers watching the scene.

-Haha I've never seen Gavin so interested in a girl like this!
Said one handsome man.

-He almost jumped on her! He must be really jealous.

-You know what Minor, I don't blame him. She is really pretty.
Said the other officer as he looked at the girl in the room.

The testimony was finally done but Gavin's mood didn't get any better.

-It's late. I'll give you a ride home.
He said.

-You really don't need to! It's not that far-
He didn't let me finish my sentence and took me by the wrist.

Two police men where waiting for us outside the room.
