The Raven Girls

chapter 5

Markeive p.o.v

I just got done watching the video of the youngest Raven girl. Selene I think her name is. I can't believe I got an invitation for get hand, our families aren't on the best of terms but I guess it doesn't matter cause this is business so family relationships don't matter are all. My dad also gave me list of all the other candidates it was sent to so I know my competition. Right now none seem to faze me except Deveaion. He's probably my only competition, my dad told me he knew the husband of the sister a year older then her. Then he told me that the Princeton boy was married to the sister 2 years older than her so I could use him for information. I think that's exactly what I'm going to do. We all go to the same college so this should be interesting. I pull put my phone and call Dameain up. He answers on the third ring.

"Hey Mark what's up". Dameain asks

I say "man nothing much but I need information on somebody."

He asked "who? You know I can get you whatever info you need."

I say "Selene Raven." There's a pause and he doesn't answer right away. I hear shuffling in the back round and female in the back round asking where he was going and he says " outside right quick, my dads on the phone." Then ever so slightly you hear another female say " liar" and Dameain say " whatever lele" and the door shuts. Then Dameain comes back on the phone saying " why you need info on her. You got an invitation too."

I answer " yea and I want to win her". Then I ask " who were those females in the back round?"

He laughs a little which confuses me and then says " my wife and the want you want info on. Your little Selene". My breath hitches a moment then I regain my composer and get down to business.

"What info can you give me". He asks " what do you want to know?"

I say " everything cause then I can get a leg up".

He says " you know what I can do you one better. The girls are going out tonight so I can rig the house with hidden cameras so you can collect all the info you want". I beam at the idea of watching her and answer " okay so what's your price?"

I already know I have to pay but I don't mind. He says " 100,000$ since it's a rush job."

I say " fine but that  100,000$ better insure that the only one getting the video footage is me"

He says " yes" and I tell him "we got a deal" and hang up. I call my dad tell him the deal I just made and he  approves. I'll do anything to make sure she's mine.

Deveaion p.o.v

I've finally made it back to my dorm and just like I hoped my roommate is there. So I just sit on the couch next to him in our living room. I want to ask about all this but don'tbknow how to bringbit up. So I say "Siereaion can we talk". He stops looking at t.v. and says " yea what's up".

I look at him and say " I received an invitation". His eyes bug out his head and then regains his composer and say" for what?"

I say " you know what. Selene Raven's hand in marriage". He let's out a breath and says " you want my help. I'm guessing you know my girlfriend is my wife too."

I say " yea but my lips are sealed". He says " ok I'll help get info on her and she might talk to me and tell me things herself. She likes me, now her older sister Sereaina's husband she can't stand. He's Dameain Princeton".

"What a Princeton married the oldest on the 3". I say. He says "yea and Selene can't stand him so if somebody else who got the invitation knows him they could try to use him. Also he sells info, he was used a lot last year. Even I used him". Wow this a lot to take in. He then asks" you got the list from the email that was sent out as a mass email so it has everybody who's going for her names on the email". I check my email and see my dad had forwarded me the email so I pull up on my laptop that I went and gotvoff my bed. I say " yea right here".

He goes over it and then says " man you got some real competition". I ask " what you mean". I didn't expect what he said next but it hits me like a ton of bricks. He says " all of those who lost the last 2 years with a few new editions are all on this list so it's going to be harder cause your a new person. The older people have a better chance" I just look at him and say" damn". Then call my dad and relay all this new info. He tells me to get all the info I can and fast if I want to stay in this. I tell him okay and then turn to Si after I hang up and say "I'm going to bed". I go to my room and strip down my boxers and flop on my bed exhausted from all the new info. The last thing on my mind before sleep engulfs me is " shit just got real".
