chapter 2

Deveaion's pov

I got called home from my dad to see something. I'm wondering what it is cause he never calls me home unless I'm in trouble and since graduating high school and starting college I've been trying to better. So pulling up to our estate I'm really wondering what's going on. I get out the car and head straight to his office where I know he's at. I don't bother knocking and just walk in.

"Hey dad" I say

"Hey son I'm glad you came come see this" he said

"What is it" I said to him as I walk over to his desk

"A video you need to see" he said without taking his eyes off the computer. I'm finally around the desk and my dad looks up at me and asks " you ready". I reply with a yes and he presses play. It's of a beautiful girl dancing so gracefully it's like she gliding but as I look closer I realise I've seen this girl then it hits me. It's one of the girls from high school I used to pick on because she couldn't dance or sing or that's what we thought cause she or her sister never did in class.

"So what you think" my dad asks

I say "she's amazing but why have me watch this"

My dad says "cause son this could be your future wife"

Wife is my dad serious. I'm only a freshman in college I'm not thinking about marriage. So I asked "who is she". My dad says "oh her, her name is Selene Duveain Armai Raven and in 6 months will be her solveinty ceremony for the choosing of her husband where she will be married shortly after she's auctioned off". I look at my dad like he's crazy and say the first thing on my mind

" she's a daughter from the Raven clan". My dad just looks at me and smirks and said "yes she's from THE Raven clan". I just can't believe it, I went to school with this girl who looked as though she had no talents what so ever. I'm utterly shocked by this but then I remember he said auctioned off and I asked " what do you mean auctioned off". He then explains that the girls are sold off to the family that most benefits their family at time and in the future and that along with this video he received a formal invitation for her hand for me. I was shocked, I couldn't believe it but some part of me was happy then my dad told me the most shocking part. That my best friend who was a year older than me was married to her older sister that was in the video. I was flabbergasted by that. He was married but I tell my dad" he has a girlfriend"

My dad laughs and says "yea his wife. The wedding must remain secret untill the girl is of age but you can date your wife in public while in private your married". To say I was shocked was the least of it. So I ask" how do they announced their wedding"

He says "they have another ceremony for the public. He'll propose and they'll go through all the notions just for the public" I thought that was kind of excessive but if it's works it works. So I ask "what's next after receiving the invitation"

My dad says " you come with a business proposal that benefits both them and us with this marriage and why you deserve her hand in marriage but I should tell you for some reason the last 2 years at both of her older sisters ceremonies they were blood baths. These girls were born talented, so talented that they haven't seen anything like it since the clans inception. So everybody that's received an invitation will be going for her so if you want her you better serious about it".

I say" if there that talented then why did they not sing or dance in school".

He just laughs at me and says "why do they need to when they back up dance and sing in concerts all around the world. They don't need to go to Finnagan Arts Academy. They go because it's were the vampires of high society send there children so they can scope out their possible candidates for there hand and try to get a feel for them. They don't know who there marrying until the wedding day and their at the alter"

"Wow that must suck for them" I say to my dad. He just laughs and says" there women. Do you really think they'd know who their marrying before hand. Oh the find out. They might have no decision but they know". With that I say I'm leaving and walk out but before I'm out of his office my dad's asks" are you going for her and if you are ask your friend for advice. You might ask to talk to his wife and get some info out of her on what her family is looking for". I turn back to look at home and say" already ahead of you. Selene is as good as mine". He smiles and says "he'll email the info I need and help with the proposal". With that I'm out the door and in my car back campus to talk to roommate.
