this is a story of li jing falling in love with xuan nu which probably doesn't make sense. you can skip the chapter if you don't like the idea. :)

i was getting jumpy.

my father was due to see me any time and i needed to be ready for a prospect of something worse than a painful death: marriage and childbearing.

and just as that dreadful thought came, i was summoned.

"here it comes," i thought as i was led to the hall.

i looked at the girl in front of me. she couldn't have been more than eighteen, three years younger than i. she was unnaturally beautiful. pale skin, black and red dress, scarlet lips. at least, unnaturally beautiful for beings living in the Ghost Kingdom.

"my name is xuan nu," she said softly. as any gentleman would, i bowed.

"li jing, prince of the Ghost Tribe." i said, my eyes fixing onto hers.

she blushed and looked down. "i was sent to be your consort."

"i hated the idea of marriage, my dear," her head lifted at the affectionate name, "but now that i have seen you, to doesn't seem that bad anymore."

she smiled. "anything for your majesty."

__________\
Two months later

both of us settled well together. i agreed to marry her. she was beautiful, and never got into trouble.

it couldn't be any different for other tribes.

they all wanted to marry her. the ghost tribe was looked down on, and so no matter how many times i tried to emphasise that she was my wife, they never heeded.

and finally, the civil competition turned into a fight for her.

i was more than willing to fight of course, anything to protect my wife and keep her by my side as she also wanted.

but what no one knew except me was that she was pregnant. my baby girl was due in five months and i didn't want her stressed, scared or angry during this time.

i never told her we were all fighting for her.

one day a prince came storming to the door and tried to take her by force, and threats.

i got angry. i commanded my guards to deal with them but they all failed to hurt him.

and my wife came to the rescue, just when he was about to kill me.

"he is my husband, nothing anyone does or says will change that. i love him, him only, no one else."

and then that brave, beautiful woman that half the world fell for came and asked me, "husband, let's go. the child needs to hear his father."

i always used to dream of real love, but now i don't need to dream anymore. because, my dear, i never knew real love before i met you.
