Technological advancements happened so rapidly, the legal system couldn't catch up to regulate technology fast enough. In a failed attempt to make up for this, world governments joined forces to create a global police force. But they were way too late...
Now, citizens are being forced to hide from the good guys and the bad guys as the list of the wrongly accused is growing rapidly and law enforcement has no sure fire way of tracking down CORGS or distinguishing between them and the actual human beings they're replicating.
These CORGS are being used to do the dirty work of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world. If your identity's been stolen and assigned to a CORG; you're far beyond help. If you're still alive, that is.
The problem is that innocent citizens are perfect CORG templates. It's much better to build a CORG on the model of a living human being than a dead one. This is because it's much less likely the CORG will be caught and much more likely the crime can be blamed on an innocent. The more these crimes are pegged on innocent people, obviously the easier it is for the real perpetrators to avoid apprehension, consequence and punishment... and the more difficult it is to prove one's innocence.
Back to Lee. Lee is 29 years old. Her parents loved and adored her from the moment she was born. Mum was a real estate agent, Dad was a mortgage broker - Her upbringing was middle class fancy to a T. Lee's proud parents shared countless social media posts about their daughter with all their friends and family- they voluntarily uploaded photos and video content of their kid; unknowingly nailing a gigantic target on their daughter's back...
