Ella's POV

As I am sitting in my bedroom reading one of my mothers books, it dawns on me that I can hear her pacing back and forth in the lobby. "I haven't forgotten anything, have I?" I mutter to myself as I can hear the pacing becoming more frantic. "Ella! Hurry up! We are running late!" Her words echo through the house and fear crawls up my spine, she's angry.
I muster myself up from my bed and quickly find the first gown I can find, stumbling around I put my hair into a messy bun and proceed to go downstairs to find my mother standing at the bottom of the stairs, arms crossed with a devilish look on her face, she's annoyed.
"What have you been doing, child?!" She spits.
Before I even get the chance to answer, she looks at me in disgust "what on Earth are you wearing?" Scanning her eyes up and down my body before having a look of pure disgust on her face.  "I..I'm sorry mother, I find these clothes to be comfortable..." she takes a final look at me before dusting herself off, "Come on, we have a 5 mile carriage ride." She walks away swiftly, gesturing me to follow.

A long carriage ride later we arrive in our local village, I know where she is taking me, once again we are gown shopping, she is completely insistent that I find a gown for a suitor, but before we get to the end of the road Margaret and Anna are standing outside the grocery shop talking, why must they be standing in our path way? I'm interrupted in my thoughts as I hear Margaret engage with my mother.
"Good morning, Alice. You are looking well." "Hello, Ella." I can almost hear the sarcasm in her voice as she looks at me from head to toe.
I don't want to acknowledge her, but I know I will get a lashing when I'm home if If the thought even crosses my mind.

I keep my head down not engaging in the conversation that is taking place, I finally hear my mother conclude the conversation which feels like a eternity and we make our way to the dress shop, I won't bore you with the amount of ball gowns I had to try on, it finally came down to the final 3 gowns and I had had enough, I was willing to put on a rag at this point and be more than happy to meet a potential suitor.

"We will take all three, dear."  Why do I have to have 3 gowns? Before I could stop myself "I don't need 3 gowns mother?" She turns to face me with a flash of amber in her eyes, I instantly put my head down. What have I done? I'm definitely going to get my lashings now. "You need to watch your mouth, girl. You should
Be grateful."  Before I can muster up anything to say, I can see Hazel being amused by the conversation taking place in front of her. Once the gowns are paid for we are back in our carriage on our way to the market.

This is my life, a constant disappointment  to everybody, constantly having my mother look at me in pure disgust, everyone else always judging me and staring at me, I don't understand why? I have never tried to to anything wrong, I have always tried my best, but nothing is ever good enough.

My thoughts are interrupted by the noise of the market, families walking around with their loved ones buying different supplies, children playing in the streets, everyone looks so happy? I would love nothing more to have a friend that I could turn to... "Ella!" I know that voice, my father!

I spin on my feet to find my father walking towards us with his big strides he is with us in seconds. "How is my favorite girl?" I don't see my father a lot, but he is always so happy to see me.
"I have found some gowns for the suitor" I mutter, He cocks his eyebrow to the side with a smirk on his face obviously amused by my  non existent interest in finding a suitor, "they would be silly not to choose my Ella, however we have the new maid starting with us today, she should be coming over at some point today, she is similar to your age? Maybe you can be friends?" Similar to my age?! Does that mean I may have a friend?! Before I could even get excited at the thought, "no she will not, William, people of our status will no associate ourselves with maids?" My mothers words are like venom. Once again I find myself hanging my head to the floor in defeat, I look up at my
Father who has "a look" on his face, it's the kind of look that makes my mother crumble. We say our goodbyes to my father and after a short carriage ride we find ourselves back at home, We walk through the door and not long after there is a knock on the door, my mother answers the door and gestures for the young woman to come into the lobby, As she is coming into view she has a presence, a very intimidating presence.
"Hello Mrs Evans, My name is Charlotte, but you may call me Lottie." The words almost slide off of her tongue as she makes eye contact with me, we lock eyes and I notice, she has violet eyes, "Oh my gosh, your eyes are beautiful!" I can see she does not look very comfortable by my observation.

Lotties POV

Why is it so incredibly easy to amaze humans just by the fact that I have Violet eyes. My eyes are a cause of my bloodline, a bloodline of the worlds most powerful witches. Every female in my family over the generations have had white hair and violet eyes, because it is the purest and most powerful magic that runs through our veins. Usually with witch bloodlines the magic dilutes over time meaning that after generations the magic becomes weaker. Not in my family, When a new female is born in my family we begin to absorb our mothers power from birth, eventually becoming more powerful
Through the generations instead of weaker. We are the most elite witches in the world. But humans refuse to accept that such beings live among them, becoming naive to the supernatural creatures that live among them.

I can't sense any witchcraft in this family. Perfect.
