Annastasia
I looked at the girl in front of me curiously.
Could it be that I had found someone who hated the world as much as I did?
I opened my mouth to say something, but only then it dawned on me, I had no idea of what to say.
So you hate getting out of the house in the winter too and like to express your grumpiness, eh? Let's be friends!
Yeah, right.
As I thought about what to say, she noticed me and I froze.
Great, Anna. She probably thinks you're a creep now.
We stood there looking at each other for what seemed like an eternity until she seemed to recognize me.
"Oh, you're that girl from the bar" she said "Do you need anything from me?"
"I, um... I thought it was... interesting the way we both ordered the same thing yesterday so I thought I'd say hi" I started nervously "And I couldn't help but overhear what you were saying when I approached you..."
"You heard that?" she interrupted "I'm sorry you had to hear that, it's just me letting out some steam, you know?"
She chuckled nervously, the light tone of her face changing into a bright red, her dark amber eyes turning away from me.
Is she embarrassed?
"Yeah, I do that too."
She quickly turned her head to me, surprised.
"You do?" she paused, deep in thought "Oh..."
An awkward pause followed until I decided to speak.
"So... where are your friends?"
She huffs at the question.
"I don't have any. Where are yours?"
"There's a couple of girls I occasionally talk to; sometimes they invite me to their birthday parties and such. I don't really consider them my friends though. Can't really seem to relate to them."
She nodded her head, understanding.
"I know what you mean. Everyone is either too energetic and dramatic or egocentric and rude. I just want someone to sit next to me and talk about how sh*tty this weather is."
Upon hearing that, I smiled at her and set my backpack on the ground. I crossed my arms, protecting myself from the cold, and sat down nonchalantly.
"It's so f*cking cold. And windy. And my lips feel like sh*t all the time even though I put chapstick on 20 times a day."
She sat up enthusiastically and joined me.
"And I hate it so f*cking much when it rains and is windy at the same time and it looks like it's raining horizontally. Like, why the f*ck do we even have an umbrella? It's just gonna turn backward and break anyway."
"And it doesn't even f*cking snow since we're near the ocean!"
We continued talking about stuff we hated about wintertime. Soon, we were laughing and I had found someone I related to without even knowing her name.

Classes that day were different. I had spent them gesturing and making funny faces to the other side of the room, to my new friend who I had learned was called Serena.
I had also learned she was rich, and that besides being very much like me, that was one of the reasons why she didn't have many friends. They all just assumed she would be a rich snob, even though she was born and raised poor.
