I was going crazy. Mentally, of course. No way I'd actually show it. But either way, my heart was about to beat right out of my chest and my hands were getting clammy and it was extremely gross.
The thought of me leaving London and going to a completely different area to study there for at least four years scared me. Leaving my mum, my dad, Luke, gran, and Lizzie
Liz. My best friend, my rock, my everything. Just thinking about leaving her and going to live a life of four years away from her her caused a wave of nausea to overcome me and I gripped the nearest thing next to me which just so happened to be my brother, Luke.
I glanced at the twenty-seven year old and gave him a nervous smile. A smile that he saw right through. I looked away before he could sense how nervous I was getting because he knew that I was scared.
"Do you want to—?" He started to say the words I didn't want him to ask, but was cut off by my mum when she announced that we were here, at the airport.
I started to ask Liz how she was feeling when I realized that she was asleep. I shook her a bit and started to tell her that we've reached our destination but she wouldn't budge.
“Liz… Liz! Wake up! We’re here," I continued to speak but the blondie refused to get up. I stopped shaking her and after a few seconds when she got comfortable with a smug smile on her face, I pushed her out of the car and onto the concrete.
"Are you serious?" She cries from the ground, rubbing her eyes vigorously.
I know I probably came off as harsh, but she had it coming. When I say move, you move and quite frankly, Liz didn't move. But I knew that Liz wouldn't take it to heart. She'd get over it eventually because that's just how our relationship is.
I smiled a smile that hopefully looked innocent and extended a hand to pull her up but Lizzie, being the evil girl she was, pulled me down with her causing me to let out a shocked gasp, "Elizabeth!"
She got up without reaching out to help me up leaving me to stand up with a scowl appearant on my face. I stomped my chestnut Uggs on the ground hoping to get all of the dust from my navy blue skinny jeans off and tugged at the hem of my hoodie that had the words Hi, I'm Awkward printed on it to straighten it and glanced over at Liz doing the same to hers.
Liz and I coordinated our outfits today so that we were wearing the same thing on the last day we would see each other. We both circled around to the back of the vehicle to get our luggage and after she pulled out her silver suitcase and I pulled out my black one, she then asked me, "Where is our mums, dads, Geoff, and Luke?"
"Well, Geoff and your parents are checking you in while Luke and mine are checking me in. They want to have as much time as possible to spend with us until we leave," I inform her, remembering that while I was trying to wake her up,they shouted that they were going inside before the Check-In area was closed.
I noticed Liz gazing off into the distant trees and realized that her eyes were welling up with tears and before I knew it mines were as well but before they could get the chance to spill, she sighed and wiped her eyes, "Come on, Liss. Let's save the waterworks for when it's actually time to leave."
