Just when you assumed that everything was fine
You stumble across a landmine and then another
And life became difficult
Your friends were no longer father, mother, sister, and brother
But simply anyone who would tolerate you
And the standards sunk to the lowest of lows
You took a football tackle for a $8 bottle of booze half empty
Still you trudged on young soldier
You lied to your parents and stopped going to church
Still you trudged on
You went to concerts and parties and classes concurrently
Even maintained the GPA
You even managed to game on your computer
Life seemed pretty good
But you were barren
Absolutely barren without anything warm
For you had turned into a pleasure seeking adventurer
Instead of a steadfast student of God
Yes, God could have taught you
How to suffer
How to enjoy
How to do everything in life
But what a price to pay
To give up something for everything
But instead you trudged on and tried to reverse the poles
You tried gambling
And nearly lost your soul
You spent more money than you ever earned
You cried outside of the casino while trembling in a borrowed car
Not because of the money
But because of who you were
You stayed up all night avoiding home because of the shame
