Everyone would describe her as gentle, suspicious, lonely, naive, all the emotions and descriptions nonetheless made them feel so empty, or, did they really think that? Did anyone here even perceive me? Or notice me? Or speak of anything to me? Her eyes darted around the room finding no glares or looks, as expected. You looked down at the plate of now nearly cold food that you couldn't put ur mind to eating. You wanted to be better, be stronger, maybe like Mikasa? No, she was too strong for you to thrive to be like her, maybe as determined and dedicated like Eren? Or Jeans bold and brashness, what did you have that people thought? You were just a background character, forgotten. "You gonna eat that?" A familiar voice rose to you, seeing Sasha you smiled a half smile, and nodded, you had an issue. You would try to speak, let out your thoughts or mumble something, but you never did, you weren't mute, no, but you had a slight confidence issue that caused you to tense at sudden people approaching you. I then mumbled a quiet "I'll— eat it" but even once you said it Sasha had moved on. You sighed and looked around the room, then a common set of eyes looked back at you, Armin, during training he didn't have much physical strength, but his knowledge was beyond what you could think of, he always knew what to do, maybe he's the one you would, or should look up to.
Once everyone got done eating, footsteps walked out and back to their settling area, people chatting and speaking, and there you were, alone. You walked along the brick walls finding the cabinet area, once you led there you picked up your sketchbook and lead, then sat on the cold stone floor and started to draw, it was slow paced and you only drew a building alone in a feild, reminding you of home, how far from the wall, people, and noise was never this abundant. Cheeps of the bugs, coos of the birds, and a silent breeze.
You took yourself back, back home, and just as you felt tears roll in your eyes you heard a hushed, and quiet noise of a stone turning in the ground, you looked up to see the bright eyed Armin, smiling in a mutual feel. "S-Sorry for snooping!" he apologized quickly and you nodded, somehow finding the words to say "it's alright."
You closed the sketch book and hugged it to your chest, breathing in. "I saw you.. uh, come here alone" He spoke as he neared were I was sitting, "We're in the next training squad together, me you and Jean! I-I was hoping k-know a bit about you" He seemed to hesitate, almost be in a state of uncomfortable feelings, or maybe a sight embarrassment? "Y..yeah- uh- You're Armin.. uh- right" you mumbled before you stood up facing him. He nodded and smiled, now his emotions tensing up a bit less, he had one thing in common with you, and it was that he hesitates a lot too.
"Well, uh-" You fumbled with your sketchbook, boots tapping against eachother, head down, you felt slightly weak in front of him, his aura seemed to radiate such a nice warm kind welcome, and you felt so, undeniably, weak? Not from him but because you froze up in an awkward and less brave feel that you wanted to give off. "You're always so- quiet- just- w-wanna know about you is all!"
I nodded and looked at his face now, a smile forming on his lips and his cute little face having a slight tint of pink. That's when your cheeks flushed, and you quietly squeaked. Armin giggled and put his hand on your shoulder, warmth radiated everywhere. "D-Don't be so tense! Where are you from?"
I gripped my sketchbook tightly, and then looked to his chest "outskirts, very far" Armin seemed to want to know more and you felt this by the way his energy felt. "My family worked to grow lots of crops, b-before-"
You remembered home before those monster, before all that was your safety was gone. "You're always s-so, well- quiet" Armin said as he sat down, leading me to sit too. "Always get lost with everyone around, I do too sometimes" He spoke, and this made you feel warm and happy.
"Just, scared" I admit, handing him my sketchbook which you also used as a hand written diary, noting how you felt in small segments on sides of pages. Armin seemed to feel like he was being invasive and held the book back to you. "I worry people can tell everything, all my secrets too.."
"secrets?" Armin mumbled in confusion. I nodded and sighed. "I'm just weak is all.."
"No!" His voice seemed to be almost angry yet sad. "I-I know that's n-not true.. I see you when we train, you have strong instincts! A-And know people feel, you can determine things based on emotions! Especially Ph-Physical training!" I blushed and watched as he spoke, happy tears swelling in my eyes.
I felt so weak, useless, and he saw so much good in what i thought would serve no purpose. "I came to talk to you because you seem afraid.. I am too, but we can all do this together right?" He smiled and I nodded agreeing.
"Th-Thank you Armin" You hugged his and crawled into his chest, crying a little, he felt like home, he felt like a warm cup of tea, a sweet sent of dandelion, a pure sunny day. This was the first time you opened up to anyone and first time you felt notice, "S-Stick with me okay? So you would feel so lonely" He spoke up to me as he hugged me back.
He knew the feeling of wanting to be better, wanting to be like others, or be stronger, not feel weak, and when he saw how you preformed, it made him also feel valid, his feeling radiate from you to him, both holding eachother.
"H-Hey y/n?" He muttered letting you go but your head just falling in his lap. You had knocked out into a slumber and all Armin really did was brush his hands through your hair and smile, contentment filling his chest. He was going to be by your side as long as he can stand.
