Mason had held me the whole night. I guess you could call it spooning.

I woke up at around 8pm.

I just lay their for about 20 minutes. Just starring at Mason. Wondering what he is thinking. Then his eyes slowly started to flutter open. Once they were fully opened he stretched and looked at me and smiled.

"Good morning." He sat up and patted down on his head to clear the extra hairs sticking up.

"Morning.."

"How was your sleep?"

"Warm."

I had no clue what had happened last night. All I know is that I laid down on my bed ready to sleep, woke up in the middle of the night with his arms wrapped around me. Spooning me.

"Are you mad..?" He scratched his head and looked down. "I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. You looked so cold, and I...I felt the need to accompany you..I didn't want you alone."

I can never stay mad at this boy.

"I'm not mad" I forced a smile.

"Want me to see if I can scramble some breakfast up? Oh and you should probably call your dad. Let him know you were with me."

Without Mason beating around the bush, or saying he will tell me later but never does, he let it out..

"My dad isn't the same as he was four months ago. I think that's why I stopped talking to you. He made me feel like I wasn't good enough."

My automatic reaction was to look him up and down. I was looking for bruises, cuts, burn marks, anything that I could recognize because I had seen it on my skin everyday.

"What are you doing...?" He questioned as I took his arms and searched them.

"He didn't beat you. That's good. I'm so sorry to hear the oth-" he cut me off.

"Dahnie.."

He pulled his teeshirt sleeve and exposed his shoulder.

Then he turned around and pulled his shirt up so I could see his back.

Red and black round blotches covered his tan skin.

He had a whip mark straight across his back.

I very gently ran my fingers across his back.

I felt his burns. From cigarettes I assumed.

He slowly pulled his shirt back down.

He turned around, he had tears in his eyes.

I hugged him. Not as tight at I did before. I didn't want to hurt his back or shoulders. I didn't want to hurt him..

Just as that moment was getting even more perfect by the second. Just as Mason's nose was pretty much touching mine, I heard my front door open.

"Hold on.." I let go of him and went down stairs to confirm that it was just my mom. It was. I turned around to walk back to Mason, but he was right behind me. I whispered "what are you doing?" He was standing at the top of the stairs.

"I don't know. I came to make sure everything was okay"

He whispered steadily.

"Well it is, can we go back upstairs?"

"I don't know.."

"What? Mason just move" I tried to nudge my way around him but he wouldn't let me.

"Mason stop joking around" I was whispering yelling..

"No."

"Why?!"

"It's fun."

"Your so annoying."

My mom turned around,

"Who's so annoying?" Greaaaat.

"Oh, just Mason." I looked at him and stuck my tongue out. He laughed.

"Hi Alison." He smirked.

"Hello Mason. Do you think you could let me talk to Dahnie, well, in private?"

Our heads shot at each other, and he mouthed to me "What do I say?"

I replied, "just say okay!"

Dumb ass.

"Yeah sure. I'll be upstairs if you need anything Dan."

"Thanks." I said quietly.

My mom smiled. I slowly walked towards her, "So what's up?"

I was watching my mouth. I didn't want her to freak out.

"Oh nothing. I have good news.."

Teddy?!

I tried to stay calm, "Oh cool, what Is it?"

She started unpacking the grocery bags she was holding.

Grocery bags? Since when does she grocery shop..?

"I'm going to A.A now."

A.A? Like the meetings to help alcoholics sober up?

"Really?" I was..shocked!

"Yep. They are some really cool people there. You should come to one with me." She leaned against the counter.

"Dahnie, I hope you know that what happened to Teddy, well..it's not your fault. You care about him more then anything" I just stood their. Emotional less. I had no idea what to say! She went from crazy to sweet in an unexpectable amount of time.

"Mom..you don't have to-"

"I know hun, I want to."

She pulled me close to her and kissed my forhead.

What was going on.

"I love you okay? Now head back upstairs. Dinner is ready in 1 hour"

I looked at her a nodded. I slowly made my way upstairs and found my self in my room with Mason.

"Well?"

He looked me up and down. And that made me feel unconfident.

I frowned, "nothing."

"Bull shit. She hurt you?"

"...No."

I looked at my feet. This time, I wasn't lying.

"Well what happened"

And then finally, it was like I had just been shot. I fell to my knees and balled.

Mason was probably really confused. I mean I would be to. But he didn't say anything, he just hugged me, and that made me feel safe.

I finally stopped crying after long pain full minutes of balling.

"Dan, you okay?"

"I...I'm okay Mase"

"You want to explain, or are you not in the mood?" He sounded concerned. Great.

"I, I don't know why I'm crying. Mase she's going to A.A! She told me she loves me. I don't know why I'm cry-" he mumbled something. "What?" I looked at him.

"Nothing. Well. I don't know. Maybe the reason you are crying is cause your scared. Your scared to see her pick her self up, and then just fall in your face. Your scared she's lying. You don't know what to do cause this is new to you. What else could you do? Hug her and tell her you love her back? Thats not something either of you are used to, Dahnie. Your crying cause your scared."

He nailed it.

I just looked at him, looked down at my fingers, and hugged that boy like a teddy bear.

Usually girls are crying over their crazy parents, or because 'no one loves them' or just drama. But not me. She finally said she loves me. After years. And here I am balling. Because of well, I'm scared.
