Chapter 3

It's Friday and I'm tired of ignoring David, I've been ignoring him for a week now. I'm walking to my last hour, the on I have dreaded to go to all day. I have math with David and we sit next to each other. Ugh I'm still thinking if I should go or just skip. I can't skip though I have to get the best grades so I can be accepted into Oxford the university of my dreams. I sit down and look around. As usual I am the first one here. I look at the clock and wait for the bell, that is usually when David arrives. I dread that moment like I have all day. He walks in with his usual crowd, the jocks, and they all sit in their assigned seats. Mr.Crawford walks in and tells everyone to quiet down while he begins his lesson. David smiles at me from time to time but I quickly turn around to avoid him. He passes me a note but I toss it back at him. The bell rings and I sprint to the door not wanting David to try to talk to me. He grabs my arm and tells his friends he'll catch up with them later. "Let go of me you animal!" I yell trying to free my arm from his grasp. He clenches my arm tightly and doesn't let me go. "You are not leaving until me and you talk!" He says grasping me harder. "Let her go" a voice from behind me says and I realize it's Cole the guy from the other day. "This is none of your business!" David yells at him. Cole walks over to David and punches him in the face. I gasp. David falls to the ground but quickly gets up punching Cole in the gut. Oh no I don't want them to get into a fight! "Stop it both of you!" I yell but it's too late their on the floor going at it. Students crowd around us and they begin yelling "fight! Fight!" Oh no don't Encourage them to keep going! "David stop it! And you two Cole! Guys stop fighting" my screams aren't heard because everyone's screaming at them to keep going. The principal comes and yells "you two to my office now!" And two male teachers separate them. They drag them off to the principles office. Oh no what have I done! I follow them and wait outside listening to their conversation. "Why where you two fighting?!" He yells at them. "This jerk here was grabbing a girls arm and didn't let her go and I was just defending her!" Cole yells. "She's my friend! I was trying to talk to her!" David yells back. "You two get suspension for a week, let's see if that shows you not to start fights in the school hallway!" He yells. "You are dismissed" he tells them. They are coming my way and I try to make a run for the hallway but Cole sees me and yells my name. "Bella!" He says and I turn around, Cole is smiling at me sweetly even with his bruised face and David is just glaring at me with a look I can't even describe. Cole runs towards me and David goes a different way. "Thanks for defending me" I say to Cole as he reaches me. "It was nothing I wasn't about to let some jerk touch you like that" he says. "Well look where it got you, your suspended and it's my fault" I say guilt in my voice. "It's not your fault I chose to fight him and wait how'd you know I got suspended?" He says and I turn away embarrassed about eavesdropping. "We're you listening to our conversation with the principal?" He asks me. "Um.....maybe" I say. He snickers "Bella you don't have to be ashamed". "I just wanted to make sure you were alright, David is an animal look how he left you" I say. "I got him good too and I think it's cute that you were worried about me" he says smiling. I smile back staring at his beautiful eyes. His features make him one handsome man. He is shorter than will but a bit taller than David. I love his golden blonde hair, it's hard to see that it's blonde but when it's in the sunlight you can see the golden rays that are his hair. "Why are you staring at me?" He says smiling harder. I blush and look away. "You want to get a coffee?" He says. "Sure" I reply and we walk to the school parking lot. We walk to his car and I don't believe my eyes when I see his black Mercedes. So classy. "You like?" He says smiling at me "like? I love your car!" I say a bit too enthusiastically. "Shall we go then?" He says "what about my car?" I ask him. "We'll come back for it later" he says. I nod and get in his car. The inside is so nice I had never seen the inside of a Mercedes before. We drive to the nearest Starbucks and we order. I order a white chocolate mocha and he gets a chai latte. We sit down on one of the tables and we begin to talk. He tells me about his family and that like me he is an only child. He makes me laugh a lot and then he finally asks me "so that guy David or whatever why was he touching you like that?" He says in an aggravated tone. "Well I didn't really want to talk about this but I guess since you got suspended because of me you deserve an explanation. Well you see me and David surprisingly used to be best friends, but then he started drifting apart from our friendship ever since he became a football player. Everything broke apart when he told me that he liked a girl that I hated. This girl, Jessica Roberts, has bullied me since I was a freshman and she's always against me on everything" I say and Cole nods and he looks like he's thinking for a while. "Well this guy's a jerk if he doesn't realize what a wonderful friend he has" he says to me sweetly. "Thanks this has helped me to clear my mind but I seriously have to go, maybe tomorrow we can hang out some more?" I say to him. "I'd like that a lot" he says. We walk to his car him making me laugh. During the car ride he makes me burst with laughter every few minutes. We get to the school and we say our goodbyes as I walk to my car. I drive home feeling happy as ever and smile for the first time this week thanks to Cole.
