The Legend of Zodiac

Chapter 3

When I was three years old, my father got sick and died. After that, my mother worked hard to support us.

„(n/n), I'm hungry for some kimchi chigae!" „Don't worry mom! You worked hard today, so I'm gonna make it for you!"

My mother protected me. She was always so powerful and cheerful. I never thought someone like her...would die in an accident.

Everyone argued over who should take me in, but in the end, my grandfather was the one to do it. He's living on a pension now, and I didn't want to be a burden. So, I promised to pay for my tuition and living expenses.

That all happened in May.

„(y/n)-ah, as you know this house is old and it needs renovation. I'm supposed to go live with my daughter's family for a while, while this all is happening. My plan is to have them house us during the renovation, but their place is so small... If you have a good friend you can stay with, that'd be better for you, too..."

I knew that I couldn't bother Chrystal, as she lives in an apartment that's too small even for her alone, and Suji has two siblings plus her parents all under one roof. There's no way I could stay with them for two months. I don't want to be a burden.

But...

„I understand."

That's right, I was planning to find a place after I graduate anyway. This is a good chance for me to learn how to live alone!

Aah~ today was such a hard day at work. I feel so tired like If I laid down now I could fall asleep. But I can't... I need to finish up some worksheets before the sweet world of dreams takes me.

I opened up my tent and crawled inside „I'm home, mum. I'm sleepy, but I need to do a few things first." Taking the led lantern I turned it on. „Uh, I feel dizzy. I'll go to the stream to wash my face to pull myself together."

Turning to the opening of the tent I started to go out. Right as my head poked out I saw two pairs of feet in front of me. Looking up I saw not only Kim Baekhyun but his cousin Kim Jihoon, too.

Everything was still for a moment, as I looked at them and they looked at me. Not a single sound was heard... until Jihoon started laughing like a madman.

„It's not that funny, Jihoon."

„I thought something was strange. The Kims own all the land in this area." Baekhyun explained calmly after hearing why they found me living in the tent on their land. Though I could see he was annoyed at Jihoon, who in turn just snickered to himself while repeating „Tent... she lives in the tent...".

Nervously, I started „Um, would you please let me live there for a little while? I'll leave as soon as the renovations are over. I don't have much money, but I'll pay what I can. Please."

„That's a dangerous spot. The soil is soft near the cliff, and there could be all sorts of dangerous people around." Jihoon said. Neither Baekhyun nor I have noticed when he stopped laughing, but it seems like it was long enough to hear my plea.

„You're finally done laughing?" Baekhyun jabbed but was promptly ignored.

Jihoon continued „And a girl can't just live in a tent for months, anyway."
