In a checkered pencil skirt and a black high neck Evie entered Tom's office holding the contract she needed him to sign. Hearing her enter Tom looked up expectantly smiling instantly as he saw it was Evie.
"These need to be signed by you. I also brought us lunch today if you have time.", she said walking towards his table. Tom got up taking the papers from her making their hands brush against each other. This small action set off the familiar tingles in both of them. He leaned over the table to grab a pen and signed the contract Evie has been working on for so long.
"Can you make sure these go out today?", he asked authority shining through his tone. Him talking to her like that was so different than when they were speaking to each other during lunch. Evie loved it.
"I already called the mail service, they already have a car sent here.", she answered a bit proud of herself that she thought ahead. "Good girl.", Tom said in a low voice surprising them both. His words made shivers run down Evie's spine and she was at loss for words. She was desperate to hear them again. Tom marveled at her flushed cheeks and parted lips. He didn't intend to say these words to her but seeing her reaction made him happy he did.
Unconsciously he stepped a little closer to her making her nose fill with his intoxicating scent. He radiated power and strength. Evie stared at him with eyes as wide as saucers. She was far off. Tom was way too much for her right now. The way his hair looked particularly soft and messy today was making her crazy. His dark eyes were glistening as he was staring at her with widened pupils. He was biting his lower lip, an action which sent her completely off. Evie felt weak. Powerless. Completely vulnerable in front of him.
He was completely different now than what he was like the night he saved her or during their lunches. Then he is kind and gentle but now he was strong, powerful and god damn sexy. He was so close to her Evie felt her knees go weak. She stepped back to grab the table as a support. Tom took this as an opportunity to get even closer to her leaning down to meet her gaze. Evie held her breath and was completely still. She felt his hot breath on her neck making her shiver. Time seemed to have stopped.
The loud thumb the pen made when it hit the table brought Evie back out of her hazy state. Tom dropped his pen behind her on the table and straightened his position again. As if he never realized the position they were just in he smirked at her and went back to sit at his desk. Evie let out a big breath feeling absolutely mortified. She thought he was going to kiss her or at least hug her or do anything for that matter not just drop his stupid pen. Evie tried to regain her composure and straightened her skirt. "I'll pick you up for lunch.", Tom said grinning at her as she left his office. In reality Tom was well aware of their proximity the whole time and he was enjoying every second of it. But most of all he loved her reaction to him. He saw the way she shivered and her knees got weak. The way she held her breath and couldn't form any words. In those few moments she was in a daze just because of him. He could have had her then and there, realizing that sent a jolt of happiness and feelings of contentment through his body, yet he knew he couldn't have claimed her. It wasn't right. She wasn't his to take.
But oh how much he wished he could.
Evie walked back to her working space on shaky feet. Nothing happened but she didn't wish for anything more in the world than that something would have happened. Her feelings surprised her because she was never one to feel the need to do things with a boy. It was going to be hard trying to concentrate on her work while waiting for lunch.
After three long hours of pretending she wasn't counting every second Tom finally entered their working area to pick her up. Elizabeth smirked at the young girl, who suddenly had the biggest smile on her lips as their boss entered the room. Harrison has been talking to her about the way Tom was acting so jealous when she was eating with someone else and Elizabeth was ready for a bit of a romance happening between them.
The pair decided to just eat in Tom's office since it was raining outside and the cafeteria wasn't exactly a private area. Evie gave him his share of the pasta she cooked and they both dug in talking about things that happened over the weekend.
"So tell me Evie, did you leave a boyfriend behind when you moved?", Tom asked a question that's been bothering him for quite a while. "Oh no, I've actually never had a boyfriend. Just some really good friends.", she answered. Tom wasn't sure why but hearing her say that made him want to jump out of thankfulness. His pure Evie was still untouched and her heart never broken by any unworthy boy.
"I am not completely innocent though.", she chimed in "I've had a first kiss. It was stupid he is my best friend and he did it out of pity I think. It was horrible and I decided I never want to do that again. Ever."
"You are telling me you never want to kiss another guy just because this one dude messed it up? Isn't that a bit harsh? Give other boys a chance at least, won't you?", Tom laughed trying to picture Evie getting kissed by a guy and hating every second of it. "Well I think I would need a lot of convincing first before letting someone kiss me again. I am a traumatized woman.", she laughed. Lies. She knew it was a lie because he never even said a word and she would let him kiss the hell out of her. But Evie was not at the point yet where she would admit that to herself.
Tom adored the way she was smiling. Hearing this story made her even more likeable in his eyes because it showed even more how innocent and pure she really was. Nobody in this world deserved to have her. Not that dude, who stole her first kiss and did such a bad job that he ruined it for everybody else, not any other boy and clearly not Tom himself. But he really wished he did.
"I am certain there is going to be a boy, whose lips you will not be able to resist because they will look just so kissable.", he joked but his words hit Evie right in her consciousness. He is right. Because he is already right in front of you. She couldn't help but stare at his lips again. Taking in how rosy they were and how soft they looked. Kissable. That was a right way to describe them.
Tom himself didn't immediately notice her gazing at his lips because he was so distracted with staring at her lips. They for sure looked inviting to him but he couldn't do it no matter how desperate he was to meet them with his own lips. He stepped closer to her lifting up his hand touching her lower lip with his thumb lightly making fireworks go off in Evie's body. "I'd be a shame if no one ever got to show you how good kissing actually can be when it's done by the right person.", he whispered.
