"40 seconds left, whatever happens pass the ball to Garfield got that?" Beastboy; as his friends all called him zones out. He heard way to many times to listen anyway, he wasn't the basketball captain for no reason. He won. He always won.He looked around, his eyes stopped at the opposite team. Their eyes were filled with hate. He grinned from ear to ear.

"Okay, everything clear?" Their couch asked.Beastboy and his team nodded.

"Yes sir!".The referee blew the whistle. One of his teammates Roger, slapped him on the back, "Don't ruin this for us B" Roger grinned.

"Oh don't worry" Garfield answered before pulling out a shinning penny, "I've got my lucky penny".

With 20 seconds left Beastboy got the ball, he dribbled it up to the net.He passed the ball to Tri, a tall blonde with green eyes. Tri dribbled to ball up to the basket with Beastboy beside him. They heard the cheerleaders chant, "10, 9, 8,"

Tri threw the ball, but missed."Shit!".Beastboy caught the ball."5, 4," He threw the ball. "3, 2!"

There was a moment of silence, everyone watched the ball anxiously. It hit the board and fell through the net, scoring a score. The team cheered. The audience cheered, the coach nodded in approvement.Beastboy grinned from ear to ear.

"Garfield Logan would you look at this?!" His mother shouted. He didn't say anything, he just stared."An F in business, a D in maths! I thought we had a deal!"

Beastboy just nodded. His mothers eyes softened, "Tell me Gar, what was the deal?"The blonde looked at the floor for a long time before answering, "I can only play if I have C's and up"

"I'm sorry Gar," She said, "You won't be playing basketball until your grades are up.."

He looked at her, "You can't do that!""It's only un-" He didn't let her finish, he stormed upstairs.

"Fucking hell!" His fist collided with the wall. If he can't play basketball, he won't concentrate properly. He ran his fingers through his blonde locks and leaned over the desk, placing his hands on it for support.

"A higher grade she says..." He always put so much time and effort into basketball, he didn't even think about school. He loved the sport. Ever since he was just a little kid his dad brought him on his first basketball game. He didn't know what was going on but he was mesmerised by the way they threw the ball, the way they used team work.It was only when he was ten did his parents buy him a basketball and he joined a club. He's been playing for 7 years now.

"Screw you mom!" He shouted out of anger. Although he didn't mean it Basketball was the only thing that was on his mind all the time, well except a certain black haired girl.

Yes... That's just what he needed. He needed her. The only thing he needed to do was persuade Raven to help him.
