You were only seven when you lost your birth parents. The day started with the three of you going to the park and ended with you going to the hospital alone. After a year of being in and out of foster families, you finally managed to find a permanent home.
The person in your new family who you were the closest to was your sister, Jennifer, who usually just goes by Jen. While at first, Jen was jealous of you for being the center of your parents attention, she eventually warmed up to you when it became clear that you were a complete nervous wreck as the result of your birth parents death. While the two of you were close, she wasn't your best friend.
Your best friend was your next door neighbor, a boy named Chase. Like you, Chase lost his mother when he was very young, so the two of you were able to relate to each other. He also had a not so secret crush on Jen, which he just considered a perk of being invited over to your house quite often. His rather excitable personality also lead you to being more lively when he was around, him being the only person who could achieve such a feat.
Overall, you could say your life was pretty normal. It wasn't perfect, and you were still a complete "shrinking violet" as some people put it, but it could honestly be alot worse and you had very little doubts when saying you were satisfied with your life.
But alas, all good things must come to an end. And while you didn't know it at the time, the end came when your parents decided to reward Jen for having a near perfect report card.
Jen loved to dance. So, an android that would sing for her as she danced would be a perfect gift for her. You thought the androids were kind of creepy but, hey, this was for Jen, not you. You'd get use to it.
It was a late Friday afternoon. You were on your laptop in your room while your parents were picking Jen up from dance class. You received a message from Chase telling you that he was at your door and to let him in. You told him you'd be right there and went downstairs, where you got a reel of shock at the sight of what looked like a redhead boy sitting at the kitchen table, appearing to be asleep as he was plugged into the wall. You cringed as your mind went to the deepest pit of the uncanny valley, before heading to the door to let Chase in.
"(Naaaaaaaaame)! Wassup my girrrrrllllll!" You rolled your eyes as Chase headed inside. You closed the door before following Chase into the kitchen, where he was examining the android at the table.
"Be careful. Mom and Dad said there's supposed to be a specific word that will wake him up and let him "imprint" on his owner. Some kind of voice recognize thing or something. So be cautious when talking around him." You said.
"Really? Do you know what that word is?" Chase asked. You shook your head.
"I think it's in the instruction manual." You said.
"Well, where is it?" Chase asked. You both looked over, almost out of instinct, and saw Jack, your Pomeranian-Beagle mix, in the hallway with the instruction manual in his mouth before he ran off to the living room. This resulted in the two of you chasing Jack throughout the house with him always narrowly avoiding being caught.
Eventually, you made it back to the kitchen, where Jack jumped over the charger, causing Chase to trip over it and Jen's gift to fall forward. You screamed and caught the android before he could hit the floor. Your parents would kill you if you broke it. Chase got up and continued chasing Jack while you put the unconscious boy back in the chair.
"WHY LEAVE HIM THERE INSTEAD OF JEN'S ROOM OR SOMETHING!?" You heard Chase yell.
"I think they wanted her to see him as she walked through the door. You make a good point though." You said while putting his hat back on his head. You then heard Chase let out an "AHA!" that made you immediately run to the living room and fail to notice the boy at the table open his eyes.
You ran into the living room to see Chase laughing at Jack as he held the instruction manual in his hand. You snickered before picking Jack up, kissing him on the top of his head, and putting him on his doggy bed.
"Alright. Maybe now we can find out the robot's wake up word." Chase said. You stood next to him as you both tried to find out what word you weren't supposed to say. You didn't notice someone walk in. You didn't notice him looking around. You only noticed him when he tugged on your sleeve. This made you and Chase jump as he innocently looked at the two of you.
"Master...?" Asked the boy.
"U-Um..." You had no idea what to say to him. However, hearing your voice seemed to satisfy him. He smiled and gave you a hug, causing you to tense up even more.
"It is nice to meet you, Master! I am Fukase! I look forward to working with you!" Fukase said. Chase leaned towards your ear.
"I think you said his wake up word." Chase whispered. It was then that Fukase noticed Chase for the first time.
"Master? Who is this?" Fukase asked as he tilted his head to the side. Chase smiled and flashed a pair of finger guns at Fukase.
"Name's Chase. No one special. Just her best friend." Chase said while playfully nudging you.
"Ah. Okay. No one special." Fukase said as he continued hugging you.
"Dude, it was a joke!" Chase yelled. Fukase just ignored Chase while you still had no idea what to do. Chase groaned and yanked the redhead off of you.
"Hey!" Fukase shouted before he began struggling to get Chase to let go of him. Chase, clearly annoyed with Fukase at this point, forced him to sit on the couch.
"Look, man, you don't just walk up to people and hug them. Especially strangers. And even more especially strangers like (Name). That's rude on multiple lev-Woah. What's up with your eye?" Chase asked as he noticed that Fukase's right eye was completely red. Fukase shrugged.
"I don't know. Your eyes don't seem completely normal either." Fukase said. Chase gasped, making no effort to hide the fact that he was offended.
"It's heterochromia! It's considered normal unlike... whatever you have going on!" Chase yelled. Chase's heterochromia resulted in him having a brown left eye and a blue right eye, which he admitted to being a little insecure about at times because he didn't know anyone else like him. So, Fukase's comment about it probably hurt more than it should have. On the flip side, Fukase seemed completely unaffected by Chase indirectly saying he wasn't normal.
"Master? Why are you best friends with this annoying boy?" Fukase asked as he pointed at Chase. That seemed to be the last straw. Chase most likely would've punched Fukase right then and there if you didn't hold him back.
"Chase! Stop!" You yelled.
"Why should I!?" Chase thrashed around in your grip.
"Because he's an android and you could hurt your hand if you punched him!" You explained. That was enough to get him to stop.
"You're lucky you're metal." Chase said. Fukase, still unfazed by any of Chase's remarks, got up and gleefully skipped towards you. You once again reverted to awkward silence as he smiled at you with a completely innocent look on his face.
"Would Master like me to sing for her?" Fukase asked. You shook your head.
"U-Um... you can just call me (Name), Fukase... and no I don't want you to sing..." You said. Fukase nodded.
"Alright! We can just relax then!" Fukase said before grabbing your wrist and pulled you over to the couch. He sat next to you and hugged you once again, resting his head on your shoulder.
"Hey! I just told you that that's super rude!" Chase shouted.
"I don't have to listen to you. I only listen to Mas-(Name)." Fukase said.
"(Name), tell him to back off." Chase said.
"F-Fukase..." You stuttered. Fukase perked up when he heard his name coming out of your mouth.
"Yes?" Fukase asked, tilting his head to the side.
"I-I... um... forget it..." You said. Fukase hummed in response before closing his eyes and putting his head on your shoulder again. Chase groaned and facepalmed.
"Damn it, (Name)..." Chase said.
Will you be able to tell him no? Will Fukase learn just how personal space? But most importantly...
What were you going to tell Jen?
