Chained

I utter a loud, piercing cry as the man gently wiped my tears with his thumbs as he hushes me. Feeling my stomach drop as a gust of wind screeches as it hits the window. "Nea.. it's only a storm. It will past!" Wraith said rubbing my neck softly with a warmth in his fingers. We sat there for what seemed like years, him calming be down at every noise I heard. When storms hit I normally hide under my bed with loud music till it finished, my parents always yo busy fighting about my future they never thought me how to act in scary situations like storms. Wraith got up turning on a lantern and hanging it up, lighting up the whole room like the lights were never off. As my eyes adjusted I looked around the room trying to calm myself down but with no avail. "Nea." Wraith said, my eyes locked with his as he said "Do you need anything? Anything at all to help?" he asks crouching down to my level with a concerned yet friendly look.
"Music?" I question as he flashed a smile with a nod, he got up going to his Gramophone and winding it as he did old jazz music started playing. I look down at my wrist seeing a pair of shackles against my wrists, I look around to see where the long-chain hooked to seeing it a as attached to the ground. "Is this really necessary!" I snap at the man as I stand up underestimating the weight of the chain, as it was 15 pounds heavier than they look. I drop on my knees as my strength isn't able to hold such strength, as the man chuckled fixing my hat.
"Yes.. We can't have you running out again now can we?" my heart sank and trembling feeling down my spine as he said 'we' with a malicious tone.
"W-whos we.." I ask not wanting to know the answer.
"The thing that brought us here, everyone here in this never-ending game of hers.." he says with slight anger, banging his fist on the wall before turning to it. "We will speak about this another time Nea.." he says with a sigh. I nod not saying a word to the man, scared of what he might do to me. After a while, the storm seemed to have calmed down I smiled at the thought of it. As I did I hear a loud rumble outside, making my stomach drop I put my head to the ground and cover my head as I sob.
I open my eyes a crack as the light hit my face, I look down to see I was back on the couch with a long fluffy red blanket on me. My eyes drift to a chair in the corner of the room, as I look at it almost memorized I hear a voice call my name. I snap out of my trans not wanting it to end, I look over to Wraith. He had a soft grin against his lips holding a plate of toast and sliced oranges. He walked to me placing against my lap.
"I hope you like it.." he tells with a warm welcome tone.
"Thanks.." I mumble looking down at the food, almost making my droll from the smell of warm bread. As I start eating I gaze over at the chair again, giving me the same effect but, forcing myself to look down at my plate.
"Do you promise not to run out like that again?"

I hear Wraith's deep voice ask, almost shyly yet sad. Looking over at him I respond, " I won't."
"promise?" he responds making a loss fist.
"I promise I won't run out again.." I lie, as I did he gave me a toothy smile. 'His teeth are straighter then I am..' I thought as he pulled a small key from a nearby table. The man gently grabbed my wrist to unlock the chains, his hand's warmer than my whole body making my spin tingle.
"Why did you chain me up?" I asked "other than me running out." I ask stuffing toast in my mouth. As the heavy chains were removed from my warms I saw rust stains.
"Becuase everyone runs away from me.." he says with a sad tone. "even when I'm not trying to kill them, everyone is scared of the invisible man." hearing him say that made my chest hurt, instantly I grab a orange slice slowly passing it to him. Doing so made him look at me with a sparkle in his eye and a grin on his cheeks. "Thank you Nea.."
