It was supposed to be a normal day.
It was just a typical day at work. I'd been delivering pizzas for hours, and I only had one more left to do before I could go home, watch some Netflix, and fall asleep. It was a normal day, and a normal night. A normal drive, a normal building, and normal, slightly cringe party music.
What I found inside, however, was anything but.
I had to pound on the door pretty hard to get anybody to answer. A few minutes later, somebody did. A man. No, not a man. His face was half normal, half rotten. His skin was flaking off, and I could see the teeth and gums in his mouth, also rotten. One of his eyes were dangling from his socket, and whenever he spoke, blood would dribble from a hole I'm his neck.
All in all, it was a pretty damn good Halloween costume.
"Hey, how much is it?" He asked, blood and pus dripping onto the floor.
"Uh, $52.49." I said, trying my best to not stare at the extremely realistic looking puddle by the man's feet.
He handed me the money, telling me to keep the change, and I went back to my car. I took a breath, trying my best to erase the thumping music from my mind, when a knock on the window startled me.
A girl with fangs protruding from her mouth, small, leathery wings, and a thin black tail waved to me from outside. Her blonde hair framed her face perfectly as it bobbed back and forth with the motion of her body.
I rolled the window down a bit, and she gave me a bright and flirtatious smile.
"Hey, you're done with work, aren't you?" Her voice was soft and alluring.
"Uh, yeah, I am. How'd you know?"
"I could see it in your posture. I know better than anybody what someone looks like after a long and stressful day of work. You should come inside! Have a few drinks, get spooky with us."
"Oh, thank you for the offer, but-"
"Please? Come on, don't you want to... Get to know me better?" She said, bending down so she'd be eye level with me, and not so subtly giving me a very close up view of her breasts. "Because I'd love to get to know you, cutie."
As beautiful and... Well endowed as she was, her charms just weren't working on me. Still, she made an enticing offer. I was way overdue for some fun. Plus, I didn't need to get a costume. All I needed to do was grab an empty pizza box from the backseat and bam! Pizza delivery costume.
"Well, I'll be honest, I don't really swing your way, but I guess a bit of fun wouldn't hurt. Right?"
"Of course not!" She said, seemingly unfazed by my words. "Come on, I'm sure everybody will think you're downright delicious!"
Before I knew it, I was right in the middle of the party. Everybody had the craziest costumes imaginable. Some looked like zombies, some looked like demons, somebody even brought their dog and dressed it up as a hellhound or something.
The drinks were spooky too. Blood red wine, ghostly, smoky vodka, something... I don't even know what it was. Thankfully, I wasn't that thirsty.
The girl introduced me to some people. At this point, I can't remember any names. Hell, maybe she never even told me. All I remember was the quick silence that followed, and the man standing at the very center of the massive group of monsters and demons.
It was him. Standing straight and tall, Christ he seemed so much taller than he was, leather jacket tight on his body. He was wearing sunglasses, and smoking something. I wasn't sure if it was a cigar or marijuana or something, but I didn't care about that.
