rain poured. lightning flashed. thunder roared.

he wondered why they wanted to meet him here, in the middle of the night, when blackness hung over the sleeping city. how strange... but he had to meet them anyway. he just had to. it was just something he felt that he had to do.

the boy trod slowly on the drenched asphalt, careful to stay under the safety of his umbrella. stray branches that were blew off trees by the howling wind crackled under his sneakers.

he grasped onto the cold metal of his umbrella handle for dear life as a strong draft swirled around him. cold icy water splashed into his shoes, making him shiver slightly. in his heart was a mess of emotions, but confusion and anger eventually shone through the tangled mess.

was this the address? why weren't there people there? did he go to the wrong place?

indeed, the address at which the 4 other boys had agreed to meet him was deserted. empty and devoid of life. the boy nearly fell to his knees with frustration but in the end, he settled on an exasperated grunt instead. all of this walking, giving up precious hours of sleep, all for nothing? he turned around and headed for home. kicking a loose rock, he muttered under his breath,

"this is a waste of my time... i could be sleeping at home! i swear im gonna-"

his words were cut short by two blinding headlights shining straight into his eyes.

"were ya thinkin of going home now?" a deep voice came from inside the car.

"sorry we were... somewhere. hop in boi-" another higher-pitched voice chimed in.

the boy turned around and peered into the car. sure enough, 4 boys peered back at him. without much of a fuss, the boy opened the car door and climbed in. he folded his umbrella and set it at the side of his seat. an awkward silence filled the vehicle.

the boy took time to study each one of the others. two sported mullets, another had his hair in bangs, and the last one had his under a cap.

"so , um, what did you call me here for?" the boy asked, breaking the silence.

"patience kid... ah! we are here!" the guy with the mullet announced.

it was a grand house smack in the middle of a bustling city district.

"looks... expensive. whats our business here even?" the boy said, confused.

"you have to... steal this hard drive, and... kill the owner." the boy with bangs replied matter-of-factly.

the boy swallowed. could he kill?
