A few years had passed since the trip to Toledo. The company grew more productive and more profitable meetings were in place for weeks to come. Nothing seemed to be off around the Phantomhive Manor. Sebastian was still his best with little mistakes here and there. The staff never questioned the new butler looking a little like the original. At times, Sebastian would look over his shoulder. To see if the man in black would be there to explain the letter he left behind. There would be no one but his own shadow to accompany his daily duties.
Sebastian helped Ciel change into something more comfortable as it was time to retire. The day had been long with meetings and more to come the next few days. His mind was wandering away from business as a pair of white gloved hands lightly grazed his skin, making him shiver at the contact. The eyes of the other made it seemed like old times when they were a wine red. The darkness making it easier for Ciel to imagine.
He waited for the other male to strip of his uniform with slight irritation. Watching as his black coat fell to the floor. Other pieces of cloth items followed as well. The sound of his shoes hitting the wooden floor made Ciel look up to him. The look of embarrassment crossed Sebastian's face as he placed the shoes together on the floor at the foot of the bed. He crawled underneath the white sheets before stopping to stare at the dark blues that cast shadows in the water depths of his irises. His arms propping his body to support itself. Strands of bluish-black locks captured Ciel's features, becoming absolutely breathtaking.
"Why are you staring at me?" The youth crossed his arms. Trying his hardest to not stare at the butler's bare chest.
"You're just beyond words for me to exclaim how much I adore you."
"There is a dictionary that humans use to describe words. A thesaurus to look up synonyms for similarities and antonyms for the opposite. Why do you find the mundane of words at such difficulty?"
"Because none if the words can describe the feelings that I possess," his voice was smooth as sleep was starting to consume his thought. "Mere words can help imagine, but none can really show what is before me."
Ciel's ears were dusted pink as he held his breath. Pulling up the blanket to wrap around his thin frame. Sebastian watched the flustered youth trying to get comfortable. The cool blankets made the other sink deeper into the depth of upcoming slumber.
"I acknowledge the same response of describing the sickening feeling of infatuation," his eyes glanced up to the figure in front of him.
Sebastian pulled Ciel close to his chest, wrapping his arms around his waist. He stirred a bit before easing up to the familiar feeling from the past nights.
"I've been devoted to finding out about my parents death to where it felt I had passed with them in the fire. I do not remember the expression that of smiling. I've long since forgotten...how to smile...out of joy," he paused for a moment before continuing. "I am not so noble that I would stake my life for someone else. Nor am I so forgiving that I would sit by and allow someone to trample me. I am a selfish...and a self-righteous human being."
"I understand the human nature of wanting what they think they require most. While I'm still trying to fathom emotions, I can grasp the concept of your feelings of selfishness."
"This is what we humans are! This is what we humans are like, Sebastian." Ciel pushed against Sebastian's chest to get a better view. "We will steal, lie, cheat, and kill to get our way."
"I know their customs by being by your side for numerous years-"
"It's work for me. People do it because they want to feel a sort of sick accomplishment with themselves. I have to do it to survive," Ciel's voice lowered. "By the order of the Queen, to become her watchdog."
