Harry looked in the mirror in his dormitory. He supposed he looked alright, but he never worn dress robes before so he really had no idea. Ron was frantically trying to get rid of the lace on the cuffs of his own robes.
"I get that she had to get them second hand, but couldn't she have at least tried to get some without lace!"
"I think you look quite handsome, Ron." Dean snickered.
Ron threw a pillow at him. "Shove off, arshole."
The two threw themselves into a pillow fight, while Harry fussed over his hair. His robes were black with shimmery green embroidery. He couldn't do much with his hair. He'd gone to Mione for help but she'd simply waved him away and told him to just comb it.
Now it was hours before he had to meet Cedric before they entered the ball. He was really nervous. They'd have to dance in front of the whole school. What if he messed up? What if made a fool of himself in front of everyone?
Besides that, he wasn't sure he was ready to go completely public with their relationship. They were both fairly prominent people, Cedric was the Hogwarts Champion and Harry was the son of the people that brought the downfall of a terrorist. Was the world ready for their relationship? They were still figuring things out, and Harry didn't want things ruined before they really began.
Finally, he huffed in frustration and stepped away from the mirror. "We'd better head down. I'll have to meet Cedric soon."
"Alright Harry?" Ron asked.
"Yeah, I'm just nervous. Everyone's gonna know after this. I'm not sure how to feel about it."
"I get it," Dean said. "Seamus and I are basically coming out too."
"What?" Harry and Ron said in unison.
"You didn't know? Dean and I are dating, we're going to the dance together," Seamus came out from behind his bed and sat beside Dean.
Dean tugged on the sleeve of his robe nervously. "Surprised?"
    Ron shrugged. "Not particularly."
Harry was surprised though. He was shocked. "I had no idea you two were gay?"
"Actually I'm bisexual," Dean said. "I like boys and girls."
Ron shrugged again. "Alright," Then he turned to Harry. "We better go then."
Harry took a shaky breath. "Yeah, alright."

Harry's hand felt sweaty in Cedric's as they walked into the Great Hall with the other Champions and their dates. He was too nervous to appreciate what the Great Hall had been transformed into as the only thing he could concentrate on was the rolling feeling in his gut.
The Champions led their partners to the large space that was meant for dancing. The music started. Harry looked at his feet at first, intent on not messing up the steps he and Cedric had spent weeks perfecting. They'd agreed that Cedric would lead since he was taller and the Champion.
Soon Harry began to lose himself in the music, letting Cedric sweep him around the room. Eventually he looked up and met Cedric's eyes only to find that they were trained on his face and his date's expression was one of awe.
Harry blushed but didn't look away. They didn't talk, only danced and gazed at each other as if communicating through their eyes. Harry couldn't deny that he was having fun.
Draco was having less of a good time.
He glared at the couples as they swayed along to the music. He'd asked Pansy to go with him, as friends of course, and she was sitting beside him looking bored.
"Draco, darling, if you don't dance with me soon I will be forced to find some sympathetic boy or girl to take pity on me and dance my sorrows away. Then we'll both be ruined and have to run away to France," Pansy draped herself dramatically across her chair.
"Pansy, you know I love you, but I'm not in the mood," Draco turned away from the dancers.
Pansy sighed heavily and stood up. "Then I suppose I have no choice. There's a pretty Ravenclaw girl I've had my eye on. Don't say I didn't warn you." Pansy flounced off with a slight pout fixed on her face.
Draco sighed and buried his head in his arms.
    "Alright there?" Someone asked.
Draco looked up to see that Ginny, Ron's younger sister, had found her way to Pansy's seat.
    Draco shrugged. "I've been better."
"Me too, my friend, me too." Ginny sighed heavily, her eyes lingering on the dancers.
"How are you even here? This is for fourth years and up," Draco asked.
"I have my secrets," Her eyes glinted mischievously. "But really, I came with Neville. He didn't have a date and I felt bad. We're here as friends."
    "Ah."
"I wish I was here with her," Ginny gestured to a pretty, blonde Ravenclaw who swayed by herself among the dancers.
Draco nodded. "She seems like she's here alone. Why don't you talk to her?"
Ginny laughed bitterly. "Because she's made it very clear that she isn't interested."
"Pity, the two of you would be nice together."
"Thanks. What about you? Why are you so heartbroken?"
    "I'm lonely."
"Well," Ginny said, standing up. "Why don't we be lonely together?" She offered her hand to Draco. "Wanna dance?"
Draco looked up into her eyes. There was a spark in them, so similar to Harry's. She was a pretty girl, there was no denying it. He wished he could like her, that he could like any girl really. His father would kill him if he knew that he'd danced with a Weasley. He was fucked anyway.
He nodded heavily and took her hand. It was just a dance after all.

A/N: Not sure what I'm doing with Draco and Ginny. What do y'all think of it?
