Head to Head

We reach the arena at the same time si the both of are arguing about who was first.

"My scarf was ahead of you!"

"Nuh-uh! Kyo's arm reached out further than you arm."

"Now, the two of you. Wouldn't you want to settle this with a battle?"

The both of our heads turn to see a figure standing in the shadows. He steps out into the light to reveal a red jacket and a backwards turned hat with hair coming from underneath it. He also has a Typhlosion standing next to him. He moves the goggles above his eyes on his hat and spins a pool stick.

"Who-?" Both me and Leo are both confused and curious about this person.

"Surely you recognize me?" He says expecting some form of recognition. Since the two of us have no clue who he is, we shake our heads no. You can almost see his ego deflate.

"Well, the name's Gold. I'm from the Johto region and this is Exbo, my Typhlosion."

His Typhlosion roars as the flames around his neck ignites. I jump back in surprise. He laughs at my reaction.

"A lot of people get scared when meeting Exbo for the first time. He usually doesn't have his flames out unless he's trying to show either dominance or friendship." Gold explains.

"Ooooh..okay." both Leo and I say in unison. I reach to scratch his neck underneath his chin. "Well it's nice to meet you Exbo!"

"Well, it's nice to meet you too. But if you touch Gold you will feel my Blast Burn" Exbo with a threatening tone.

"Trust me I won't" I say as I scratch Exbo's chin. He clearly enjoys this and his flames die down.

"Woah...you can speak to Pokemon and handle them too? What are you a TV protagonist or somethin'?" Gold stares at me dumbfounded.

"We literally found this out today." Leo explains. "He's also friends with a Legendary Pokemon, so yeah. He's a TV protagonist." I nudge him in the shoulder as I laugh sheepishly.

"Oh, quiet you." I say. "Arent we out here for a reason?" I ask Leo.

"Oh, yeah! Battle time! Let's go! Leon?" He exclaims excitedly.

"Littan! All right!"

"You're not the only one who's hyped! Kyo?" I say to Kyo.

"Fro! Let's go!"

"Alright! I see you too are raring for a fight, so I'll be the ref here. Let the battle of these two new trainers begin!" He says as he raise his hand into the air.
